looking at this for my husband...
he has a kodak 1015.....but doesnt like it as it takes too long to catch the focus...
what spec do I want to be reading to see if this focuses faster?
I see it lists 10fps....but I want the individual focusing time not bursts...
Or any advice on this type of camera that works like my D90 but is a point and shoot...

I don't know that you'll necessarily find a specific spec that describes focus speed... you may only ever have a reviewer say "it focuses faster than most." I think there are so many variables that go into how fast the camera will lock onto focus, that it wouldn't be very easy to quantify it.
The lens is going to have a huge impact on the camera's ability to focus quickly, for one... plus the lighting situation, whether the subjects are moving, and so forth.

The 26x optical zoom is pretty impressive. 26mm-678mm (35 equiv) F2.8-5.0. Whoa!
I'd be very interested in seeing some tests of the image quality throughout the zoom range. |

Imaging Resource or DPReview should have performance specs within the next month or two...
