Kudos to all the ribbons and all that, but is anyone else disappointed at all the set up shots? I was hoping for more natural faces in things that were already there...

*shrug* my "setup" shot might get a brown here... (depends if a face drawn on paper meets the challenge or not :) )... That didn't disappoint me at all, mostly because I just thought it was a funny image that I post processed the crap out of for no good reason at all other than to enter it on a silly whim.

Thanks for the votes, it was good to score as predicted for once ;)

Corey the two that scored below you made me laugh out loud! Sorry to whoever took them... couldn't help it.

i know mine wasn't a standout but below 5? i guess the face just wasnt very obvious

I also agree, i prefer the non 'set up' shots, or minimally set up shots

here's not very obvious for ya :)

I actually didn't enter just because I could find a good natural one.

Man that took me ages to SEE it!

I think if I had cropped out the chipping part at the top it might have been more obvious.

It was hard to know what was expected. The description confused me a bit. It said "represent", which is a nod to creating. I assumed that if it was otherwise, it would have been "find" or something like that. So I created. Obviously didn't create well enough.

Of my top 10 votes 2 were set up (and my #1 pick was set up). They didn't bother me, I guess I just found the "found faces" more appealing.

I didn't enter this shot because it didn't show a distinct smile or frown. I guess I took the challenge description too literally.

Truly it doesn't bother me that some were set-up as opposed to finding the face naturally. Some of the set-up ones were rather very creative and just as enjoyable as the naturally found ones.

And for my own entry I went the humor route...

It was an evolution in the created composition. The first shot was just the wallhanger and a white wall. It was soooo plain and lacking visual umph. So much for the 'naturally' found one - but I see that a very minimalistic entry did very well so who knew;-)

Anyway I thought glass tile to create an interesting backdrop and some color variation for a little more - then it didn't look right (who hangs pictures on a glass tile wall?!?!) and the color competed with the main object.

I created the backdrop and had 'Harvey' hang there in the middle of them, but something was still lacking in the interest department. It still looked flat and lacked that extra umph. So then came the addition that hammered all the humor points. The addition of the hammer and the nails as bulging eyes (ala chuck jones signature cartoon style humor)

O.K. I have tried and tried and tried to see the face....I can't see it! All I keep seeing is the outline of a butterfly flying sideways in that paint chip!

Ha ha, on the right, looking left.

ha fun - I had no idea I presented such a puzzle.

so look at the white blob and follow the jagged edges on the right side of it. first you'll see the squinty eyes. the part sticking into the white blob is the nose :)

I saw it as something different, did not see the profile version at all. Here's what I saw (had to do a screen capture since I couldn't download the pic).

I thought that that one was very original, I gave it a 9.

I took this awhile ago and I'm not sure that it's a smile or a frown but it's definitely personified and I thought you might enjoy it!
