2 are guesses, one is correct.

I have made 10 guesses so far and 4 have been confirmed. I feel pretty good about that.
There are a few more that I will most likely attempt.

5 for 5 correct guesses. I'm surprised the 6th commenter who knows me well didn't get it (yet).

Some people shoot the same shot or near exact subject/model and for me that doesn't count as style but you do many different things very well and offer a wide variety of work so, you may be hard to spot. Personally, I don't repeat shots but I do gravitate towards certain type of subjects and my location...well...

Bear commented on one of my pix "Dang, I figured this one might have been yours based on location and sense of space, but it's not "typical" Pawdrix."

The "sense of space" part I found interesting and suppose gets to the bottom of it, in terms of style, where location is just what it is.

I felt the same was as you at the beginning of this challenge. Subject does not equal style. (thought luckily for this challenge, subject was part of the description)

But the more I thought about it, subject is definitely a part of a person's style. Ansel Adams photographs are easily known, not just because of the black and white and high contrast, but because of the landscapes. Does this strike you as an Ansel Adams? portrait I never would have recognized it.

One other example: not photography, although he used photography to create his artwork. Norman Rockwell. It's not just the slightly cartoonish, flatter feel to the artwork, but the fact that it portrays Americana. If he just did a painting of the grand canyon with no people, I doubt that we would recognize it as a Norman Rockwell painting.

So I've come to the conclusion: subject is very much a part of style.

no argument here, as long as this is the same subject matter, not the same literal subject.

So far three correct guesses on my identity. Dang!

Seven correct guesses. One incorrect guess, but that person hit the correct geography and subject matter of the person guessed.

I have made 17 guesses. It's really like a giant jigsaw puzzle in three dimensions. I have 14 check marks, but that doesn't necessarily mean I guessed 14 correctly. I think I am sure of 12.

Nice score!!

And I do find it interesting that a "style" develops despite differing subject material. I saw this in the waybackwhen when I took a course in photography at a local junior college. In film days. We'd print the week's assignment and post it on a railing with a number underneath. Then we had to critique each other's work. Amazing how after a few weeks, we could pretty much pick out who shot what.

Somebody guessed me mistakenly as Roz {A huge compliment for me though }, but then deleted the comment after few hours! And I hope he/she didn't reduce the vote given to me :)

Duh!......8>)

It's not just how we shoot/process something, but it's what we see and how we perceive the world.

I know that a lot of the world that I see is locked in the ruins of the grandeur of the past.

I was generalizing, of course but I believe I was referring to models or objects more so and not all subjects. Even those can play a part in ones style if the photographer has a relationship with them of sorts...and the same goes for locations. A persons passion for food can really come through in an image and people can have a bond with almost any subject. Images can truly be special if they reflects that partnership.

Bug macro's might be a good example of the point where the photographer alone would need to bring whatever makes the image special to the party. Although an Entomologist would probably say different...? So, in my case I did dismiss location in a broad sense BUT I certainly have a relationship my city and I do gravitate to photographing a little more of it's underbelly and the denizens of those parts.

My image is very typical for my style but I still only have 2 guesses. Both of them are correct though! :þ

Also my image is very typical for my style, but I still have not received a comment!

maybe I'm not so known yet here on DPC ;-)

I seem to have stabilized. Going up slowly and every now and then a low vote neutralizes the gains.

Almost done voting, too. Will have to go back and try to figure out who shot what! Giorgio, thought I got yours, but guess not. Yet.

Last comment, someone mistook me for someone who's ribboned a few times! Nice when that happens. :-)

Of the author guesses, 8 of 9 correct on my image.

On others, I have guessed on 31 images. Of those, I have 23 check marks. But, I suspect I'm only 100% confident on about 20. This is a lot of fun to become acquainted with the styles and portfolios of others. The clues to identity are where you find 'em.

I have just discovered what an honour someone paid to me by confusing me with Jedusi. May I attain his standard some day.
