I'm actually quite shocked that mine is as high as it is. I was expecting the normal 4.8 or lower on this. And 2 favs...

Why are you calling members dicks? You do know this is a member only challenge, right? So why are you calling fellow members dicks?

So, it's OK to call registered users names? Just not members?

That's totally out of context scarbrd. This challenge is a member only challenge and I was referring to this challenge only, not any other. This isn't the first time I see this language and it isn't the first time I say something about it. I've said it before in registered user challenges as well.

Here's a question to the folks who've been here for a longer time than myself. Has it always been this way? Have members and registered users called the voters dicks and trolls from the beginning in 2002? I think it's a matter of respect to the community. You'll never see me call anyone a troll because I'm scoring low. I blame myself for the low scores, not the voters.

You wrote 3 questions and used the word "member" in each one. Even asked if he knew it was a member only challenge. I just thought there might be something different in the way you think we should treat members vs registered users. Seemed like a reasonable observation.

And yes, there is all manner of name calling in threads, most times unwarranted. Occasionally the SC steps in when it gets out of control. Most times they let it play out. Nuzzer was unreasonably raked over the coals for having the gall to enter something that was DNMC, but only obvious after the fact. That happens sometimes too. Some people here are passionate and sometimes it gets the better of them. Have a look at the Rant forums, it gets pretty dicey in there.

I actually do not approve of that language in the forums. When it was used against me I reported the post but nothing came of it. I guess my use of it here was more a reflection of that rather than wanting to use that language in a day-to-day manner. I very rarely use that language in real life so it's not something I tend to do in forums either.

I also read your first post as if there was something wrong about calling members names, but registered users was a different story.

Sorry about the confusion guys. I was referring to this specific thread and challenge.

I just find it kind of disrespectful to call anyone on this site a troll or a dick just because the scores are low. The variety of voters we have here is what makes this site unique whether they give low scores or extremely high ones.

Alright, let's get back to posting our scores. :)

I think I have a top ten image, from what I'm seeing in this thread anyways.

6.2ish atm.

No worries, I try to keep it civil, too.

I think that this is a low scoring challenge for the most part even though there are some pretty decent scores being posted here and there. I'm sure that there's going to be some higher scores that aren't being posted but, on the whole, there seems to be some low scores in this particular challenge. :( It gets frustrating for even the most patient and seasoned members, I'm sure and sometimes, a "vent" is warranted...then, it's over and Life goes on or we move to the next challenge to get creamed LOL ;0)

my score is definitely still broken. Not complaining, just saying.

A comment I just received (actually, the only comment so far, even with 92 votes) suggests that some good images might be receiving low scores from people who think "Things that no longer work" can only mean things that are visibly broken. A nuber of good images entered in this challenge demonstrate other ways of thinking about the topic, and they don't all rely on their title to make the connection. My own feeling is that being open to multiple interpretatons enriches my experience and helps me see in ways that I haven't seen before. Of course, this is cetainly not a new or unexpected issue. I'm willing to accept that disagreement about interpretations of the challenge topic (with or without reading the challenge details) seems to be an inevitable part of all the topical challenges. And I understand how frustrated people (on either side of an interpretation) can get. Probalby should ignore it, but posting seems reasonable too. Maybe the best response is to use the opportnity to practice detachment, or meditate, or something like that. Ommmmmmmmm .... (Closes eyes and relaxes).

One of my comments says just the opposite, funny enough - my image is of something that is visibly very broken, but the commenter states that (even though broken) "they still work".
