I've had several of my friends and family to ask me to sign up on Facebook, so I did. But now what? I look so lonely on there(LOL). Not much to say and zero friends. I don't even know what people use facebook for.

What do I do next?

track down all the people you know from school or previous's jobs who you no longer talk too. Then get caught up in lots of small chit chat :P

And there's heaps of DPCers on there too.

Just don't get sucked into the likes of Restaurant City, Cafe World, Farmville, Yoville, Bedazzled, and a slew of other applications that will suck your will to live including Mafia wars, Castle Age, Fish Isle, and hundreds more.... Yes I play them all. L()L

I couldn't agree more!

With FB I've gotten in contact with some very dear friends from my college days and a few from high school. I am now in contact with a several of them on a daily basis and of those are few who I've had get togethers with and it's been great to be back in touch with them. :-)

I have other FB friends that I see 4 or 5 times a year at cultural events and we share information about those events and other things we need.

And I have FB friends who I see around town or txt and call; go out with; whatever.

Then there are other friends in my list that I never interact with.

I guess it's all in what you need out of it and how much free time you have on your hands.

Do a search on Facebook for DPChallenge.com - you'll find it that way.

Mousehunt and Mythmonger are probably the best apps I've run accross. I also like Bejeweled Blitz.

I 2nd that motion. Stay away from the games. They will drain you of all your ambition and you will gain lots of weight.

make sure you go through all your privacy settings and protect your personal info. I am not sure what they have as default settings now but it is best to look through them so you are sure that your not letting the world see stuff you don't want them to.

adding friends is easy and after you get a few on their and become active, friends of friends will find you and request to be added to your list.

I'm happier with FB now that I've set farmville, mafiawars, etc. to ignore. I don't need to know everytime my wife buys a pig in a virtual world.

I will have to leave the games alone then. I don't need to gain weight :)

Since, as photographers, I'm sure folks here will be tempted to upload images to FB -- Be sure to review and consider the Fackbook Terms of Service carefully. There's a pretty blatent rights-grab stuck in there, which you won't find any many (any?) other sites:

Just sayin'.

ETA - The whole Farmtown thing cracks me up. Maybe it's because I was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina (where you could throw a rock and hit a farm pretty-much everywhere you went) -- but why would I want to use my computer to simulate a farm? I spent 18+ years of my life trying to get AWAY from farms -- now I'm going to pretend to have one online? What, am I homesick for the smell of cow patties and cackling of chickens? Not really. Maybe that's just me. ;)

I don't post many pics, but any I do are limited to friends only (again, a limited number). I think this line maybe the key but not sure how that translates in "real life".

See what those ex-girlfriends are upto these days! Laugh when you realise they have fallen on hard times and they would of been so-much-better off if they had stayed with you and not eloped with your best mate. Send them a gloating message to say how happy/rich/successful you are and you hope they find a house away from the projects in the near future.

Rinse & Repeat.

I was born and raised on a farm in Rhodesia the farms were big and if you threw a rock it would land on your farm most of the kids me included were home schooled through school on the air, until senior school when you went to boarding school or boarded with a family friend near the school of your parents choice!
Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe nuf said!

It's.... It's like you've been looking over my shoulder!

Facebook "search" is indeed a fun little toy. If only they had a few more narrow/refinement options... :P

If you edit your profile to include a high school, college, or employer, and you choose one that is already there*, you can then click on the high school/college/employer name on your profile page ("Info" tab) and search for others that also have that on their profile.

You should become a fan of "Not playing FarmVille" on Facebook. You can also block the application if you go to the application's page (the one with a Wall, Info, Reviews, etc.) and click "Block Application" underneath the profile image.
