I received a new Gateway computer for Xmass, I had a minor issue that needed a tweak or two so I contacted Gateway customer support. Long story short, it turns out My specific computer failed to get it’s serial number listed, (out of the thousands go figure). Tomorrow, I will be returning it to Fry’s, If my model is not available (at the time of calling none were) I will receive credit towards a different computer. To the question..
Is there a named brand (Windows) computer company that has a Tec-customer support system that is regularly known to have a better command of the American-English language?
This is not about geography, it’s about communication.

Dell I think is out sourced to India. I think most service related computer things are out sourced now

I have with other customer support issues dealt with people from India before with a much better command of the English language. My recent dealings recently with Gateway and communication are unacceptable..

It is a big part of my job to deal with Dell and IBM etc... They are ALL outsourced as best I can tell.

So, here is my advice - in the case of someone with too much of an accent for you- try e-mail. The reason is this- while their spoken English is often difficult to understand their written English is often better than your average American's... Think about it.

As per brand? I currently feel that HP offers the best bang for you buck, unless you are trying to run enterprise applications, then (because of compatibility issues) I would recommend Dell.

Hope that helps some.. :)

If I remember correctly, Dell has an option where you can pay something like $12 or $13 (a month? a call?) to talk to someone in the US. It's been a while since I heard about it so the details are fuzzy, but you could probably check with them to see if they offer that.

Well, you may want to check out Costco for a computer. They have a 90 day return policy with no restocking fee, and they extend the manufactures warranty an extra year. ALSO, they have their own Concierge service with free technical support. Now, in all honesty, I have never used this service, but I have heard from other members that it is very good. So perhaps you may want to check out their website, or a building near you :)
