This is my stock photography sales statistic for December 2009. You can find a complete list of stock photography agencies that I work with here.

These are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for December 2009:

1. Shutterstock
2. Fotolia
3. DepositPhotos
4. StockXpert

December had as always a decrease to November, but this year it was higher with 41% compared to November. Overall 2009 was a very good year with more then doubling the revenue compared to 2008. It was the best month ever for Scandinavian Stock Photo, Graphic Leftover, and DepositPhotos.

I am not "into" stock, but I find this information interesting. I am curious to know if you have the same images at multiple agencies, or if some of the agencies require that the images you have with them be "exclusive" to them.

no microstock agencies 'require' you to have your images exclusive, but some give you the OPTION to have your images exclusive with them.

Dreamstime and Fotolia allow you to list images as exclusive to them (on an image by image basis) for a higher payout on those images.

iStock is all or nothing. You can become an exclusive photographer but then ALL your images must be exclusive. You are not allowed to sell RF images anywhere else.

However, if you want to upload the images non-exclusively you can upload them to all the sites.

Hmmm...thanks - which do find is most profitable overall - exclusive images, or non-exclusive images ?

This is very interesting.... I thought iStockPhoto would have been higher given their relationship to Getty.

I have some images exclusive with some agencies but 99% of my images are available at all the agencies with an RF license.

iStockPhoto rejects a lot of my images and the upload process is time consuming. So my portfolio is much smaller there. I am over 1/3 behind with uploading there compared to my complete stock of images.

I have recently joined iStock. They are actually limiting my uploads to 15 per week. And their approval time is almost glacial.

Slagathor, just in case you don't now about DeepMeta ( //www.deepmeta.com/ ) just take look. It really is helping with the submitting process with iStock.

A question (that I'll understand if you don't want to answer) but ballpark figure of the overall take for 2009?

And about how many photos do you have on these stock sites?

I made enough to pay for a New Canon T1i with a few new lenses, flash, and same other bills. In average I would say that I have 700 images online. But then on IS I have only 138 images online and on MP I have 1380 images online.
