Yes! I keep seeing beautiful silk scarves, sometimes a rug or a puzzle or a window. They are all so beautiful to look at. The sad thing is I can't seem to find any words for comments, I just gaze in awe.

Maybe I shouldn’t say anything, and keep the idea to myself, but what the hell, give back and all. Including something like this in a seniors or a younger couples wedding package might generate additional sales. Just a thought..

If creating an album or wedding book, putting the original and the flipped/blended version together on a page might be an idea.

For anyone interested in printing on fabric, here's a site to check out.

//www.cjenkinscompany.com/

I've got the pre-treated fabric from this site just haven't printed anything yet.

I agree this is fun!

Original Photo

ETA: Same steps as described by others above with two extra rotations; 45 deg and 22.5 deg. for a total of three rotations.

And quilts! And it could be the paper used on the inside of the front and back covers of a book. Backgrounds for scrapbook pages. I still want a rug like this.

I had to try this with one of my favourite images and came up with a favourite blended image.

This thread intruiged me so I gave it a quick try -

Simple images on black backgrounds do seem to create simpler geometrics. Here's another example:

It looks a bit messy because I made it from the challenge image on DPC (didn't do well!):

I think that the sequence I used is a bit different. Maybe that's why some of the colors of the original are retained (not sure, though.) I've (mostly) been using the ctrl-shift-alt-E command at each step to create a new layer showing everything up to that point, and then applying the rotation and blending change (usually "difference") to the new layer at each step. If the file gets really huge I guess you could merge all after each step.

I found a new reason for never deleting anything. (as if I needed a reason in the first place)

LOL, Oh, so true! I've started with some originals that were snapshots at best, and wound up with really nice results. Now I'll be loathe to delete even the real stinkers!

These patterns really make interesting tilings. Here is a tiling of the last one I did, and its negative which sort of looks like ceramic tiles:

Could you please post your steps for tiling. When I think about it it seems tedious but it may be easier than I think.

I just found this thread this morning -- my kind of fun ... now I'm also curious to try it with other blending modes.

First try: Resized original:

I kind-of miss the cut-off parts lost to the square crop -- I wonder what will happen if the original is "stretched" to a square aspect ratio first ... :-)

These things are like potato chips - I've got 40 in the hopper already and it's only January 2nd!

I've created the new time waster portfolio filler. hehe

New challenge:

Guess which portfolio pic this was spawned from.

Delete? What it this delete thing you speak of??

Seriously, I've got 20 or more from yesterday that I haven't posted, some of them pretty good. Since I made the action for them, I actually do dump a lot of them without saving. The action is great, but... it always does it the same way, and there is no viewing the intermediate steps unless you poke in the history, so you potentially miss out on some opportunities to depart from the norm.
Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if creating separate actions for:
- Flip horz & blend difference
- Flip horz & blend exclusion
- Rotate 90° & blend...

...then applying in the order you want might be a more fruitful avenue. I also wonder whether it's possible to "undo" very quickly by creating an action to undo the last 4 steps (dupe, flip, blend, flatten)? One might well experiment creatively, but efficiently that way. Hmmm, more stuff to try!

ETA:
Yep, a simple action to undo the last four operations works great to "step back" through the process! Now to create some specific actions with different rotations, blend modes, etc. Oh, this is fun!
