For those who were wondering, I will link to the original image later. I can't do it right now as the original is one of my challenge images and is still in voting.

Three more from today :-)

while I can find practically no images of their work on the web, many of these images remind me of expert handweavings. two of the best, Mary Black (of Nova Scotia) and Mary Meigs Atwater researched, wove and published many patterns in books, quite a few from Appalachia, that resemble some of our posted ones.

I wish I could show them to you, but book pages don't translate well to threads.

Indeed not... apparently, however, the original "threads" translated well to book pages!

ETA: I can see how many of these could resemble weaving patterns. I'm actually thinking of printing a few of my best at the end of the month, and hanging them as a grouping.

I can see that as the day has gone on these are getting better and better. I thought I'd try for something soft so I started with these t tulips:

and got this:

So then I first ran the crystallize filter on the tulips and got this after adding an extra 45 degree layer:

Hah! I just made an interesting discovery... if you upsample your original before running the Flip & Blend on it, the detail rendered is *incredible*. For instance, I upsampled an image from 3072x2048 to 6000x4000. The difference in detail rendered was astounding.

ETA:
Here's the one done with upsampling first... you can examine the full-resolution image on this one, but be careful if you are on a slow connection, it's 9MB!

Here's the tulip image in a 3 x 3 tiling.

This looks like fun... some incredible images you are coming up with, so I tried some myself - mind if I join in?

One last one for today:

I ran a quick pass, loved what I saw, but wanted the full pattern, so I took the original and duplicated the top & bottom strips, inverted them and pasted them back to expand the canvas & make it square. I then upsampled to 6000px and ran my Flip & Blend action.

Okay, one more from me today, too.
Cropped to square, rotated vertical, horizontal, 45°
Added 20% Fractalius.

Upsized at kirbic's suggestion before the flip and blend. Full size (1.3mb) file available for viewing.

Oy, this one blows me away... An ordinary gull-from-beneath against a blue sky, details in comments area.

I can see this one as a jigsaw puzzle.

And something unexpected (not that I can visualize any of these from the originals):

One would have to be demented to tackle that puzzle :-) Reminds me of a puzzle I got from MoMA once, maybe 30 years ago. It was a 16x30 or so puzzle of a Jackson Pollock work, I think maybe this one:

Took me like 6 months to do that puzzle :-)
