Got a wonderful surprise last night. Ryan turned up unexpectedly on my doorstep, camera gear and props in hand. We stayed up til the very wee hours of the morning, helping each other with our respective shoots, slept for a bit, then got up and carried on where we left off!

I wish everyone on this site had the good fortune to have a Ryan/Ryanna in their life to shoot with, I really do.

After wandering through this thread - full of fun and amusement - think about looking
at it at another angle.

Mine.

"Shrimp Boats a comin'" "16 Tons". Those were the tunes of my youth. Driven to distraction
by them and their friends, I dove into classical music and have not yet surfaced.

An aside: "Dance Balerina Dance" is excepted. Awww, that was nice. Maybe the one about antelopes playing also sticks around ...

So, these challenges, "Pink Floyd", "Paul Simon" and others have been an enormous learning
experience.

Yeah, I can look at the lyrics (which never would have occurred to me to do without the Challenges) and say "oh, yeah, I can replicate that lyric" but no, the history, the back-story, eludes me.

It is fun catching up.

Okay, carry on.

Paul Simon, both alone and with Garfunkel, makes for an excellent diversion!

Not sure how well you'd take to Counting Crows (Adam *whines* but I like it) or perhaps Toad the Wet Sprocket.... Maybe I'll have to send you sample disks! :-)

Well I am certainly not entering this challenge because the description did not spell out in detail what I should take a picture of and what my camera settings should be and what time of day I should shoot and I am afraid of the voters throwing stones at me or saying mean things and giving me a low score which may affect my day job work performance, causing me to become unemployed, resulting in severe depression and then ultimately suicide. So unless the SC step up and expand on the current description in detail and PM said description to all potential voters (including folks that might visit DPC for the first time and sign up during the voting period), then they will have to live with the guilt of my horrific demise. And believe me, it will be horrific. I will hang myself, then burn my body, then tie it to the bumper of my truck and drag it all over DPC land. Is that what you want?

Only if I there is an appropriate challenge that week, and I can be there to take photos.

But, but.. what about godzilla? Surely he must feature in your grizly demise. We expect nothing less! Maybe you could hang youself from a lifesize statue of said beastie?

AND... make sure you arrange for the truck to drag your burning cadaver through a bunch of villages causing them to burn so you get one last "got you!" and "the joke's on you!"

Oh and leave someone instructions to enter pictures of the event. It's Paul Simon inspired, right?

Band out of Santa Barbara - creative lyrics and music - one song has three verses going at the same time, and two time signatures. Quite fun! I don't remember how they came up with the name - there's some sort of odd story to go with it.

America

I went to the Robert Frank exhibit of The Americans and it was pretty inspiring not to mention perfect alignment with this Challenge. Looking at the images, notes, comments, contact sheets, letters he wrote to Walker Evans, Jack Kerouac I kept wondering if he or Paul Simon for that matter, ever went through a phase that was focused on or inspired by Woodies...?

15 images from The Americans.

eta: Here's a link to an NPR radio piece interviewing Frank, Meyerowitz etc. about The Americans

I found my CD so decided to listen while shooting my song, for added inspiration. I had forgotten how good Graceland is! The boy in the bubble, love it so much. Should have gone and found some people Zorbing ; )

I looked at all the song titles in the link given by the OP right at the start of this thread. Wow...man, there's a lot of songs and even more lyrics that give almost endless possibilities. So many that it's hard to decide what to go for. So I decided to just go out today with my camera, tripod and my mind emptied of any pre-conceived ideas and shoot as many things as I come across and then I'll select the best of them and see which one fit's into one of the song titles or lyrics best.

Three verses going at once along with two time signatures ??

I always put that special sound down to drink - now apparently it turns out to be a style !
