I took this picture and edited it for colour only. Can you please critique. Please be as brutal as you like (while still being constructive)...

there is too much loss of detail in the dark areas, it looks like you did too much contrast or too much of the 'black slider' in the raw edit? other than that i like it!

If you like it that's the most important thing. For me the composition, subject and colour don't appeal :)

It would be better to use the thumbnail icon to post a thumbnail which links to the photo, rather than posting the whole thing in a thread. Use the 7th icon above the text box, then enter the image number in it.

I left a comment with the photo.

I don't like the composition. You have two subjects here, pushed to the edges of the frame, separated by lots of space and a boring hedge. Which should I be looking at? The castle, or the clock tower?

If the castle is the intended subject, then I wonder how the shot would have looked with just the castle and the hedge in the foreground?

Beetle, the composition seems somewhat awkward. I think the line of the castle and trees is interesting as a silhouette, you could perhaps play on that.
Also, the colour looks very fake... Obviously it is but I don't know if you intended it to look that way. It doesn't seem to have a purpose. For example if it were blood red then that might work. But at the moment it just looks like you like orange and that's why you edited it that way.
Keep at it, that's what photography is about.

Eliminate the church and you have an interesting photo. Like JH though, I don't know where to look at and that makes my eyes wander. It looks over processed as well. You added an orange tint to the sky but it's also in the hedge and that makes it look unnatural. The sun is still high in the sky too and adds to the unnatural look of this image seeing the orange tint makes it look like the sun is setting.

Along the lines that several others have remarked upon, here's a manipulated version of your image. I've made no change to the exposure or the color; I've simply cropped out the tower on the right and some of the foreground, and skewed up>left and down>right to provide a more dynamic perspective, such as you might have been able to accomplish by moving in closer and wider. See how much more compelling/dynamic this composition is?

As a good rule of thumb, if your lines are going to recede at all, make them recede a LOT: no wimpy diagonals please, but rather strong, sweeping ones.
