Have you had a look at some of those comments? Frankly I'm surprised he's been allowed to hang around being the jerk he's been. He attacks everyone that remotely disagrees with him. Check out his comments in the Pink challenge. If it wasn't pink enough he let you know.

A few samples
THERE IS NO FRICKING PINK
OKAY, GETTING FRICKING TIRED OF THE FLAMINGOS, UNFORTUNATELY THIS ONE IS MOSTLY RED....
YES, OPERATOR, IM LOOKING FOR SOME PINK????
i swear if this wins i will cut my wrists

Don't buy a membership, sonyalphausr, just go away. Go away, and don't come back until you've stepped off your pedestal and learned to interact without being an ass.

Nope, didn't read them, gave the benefit of the doubt. Though It seems as if this person is getting off light. Too many people like this floating around. I think its time to just ignore.

Funny how I even said I didn't mind the idea, and offered solutions, this person did not see that, and only felt to attack and make excuse again. Civility goes much farther then anything else. I learned that the hard way myself. But I learned.

how can i be civil when i am the one being attacked by you members on your ego trip who feel you have to comment on everything anybody says and stick your pictures in every challenge that pops up...

You choose to be.

no, i refuse to lay down like a little ***** and let you members run over and attack me when all i did was suggest a measly little challenge in which you all could not be involved and boost your egos, sorry

Never said you had to lay down, or not defend an attack. Merely said you can choose to be civil about it. it is a choice. You seem to be allowing others make for you.

Also, I have no ego. You seem to be very confused with which what it is you are thinking. I actually have not even been on this website for the past 11 months. Today is my first day back and what a wonderful day it is.

So, if I may be so bold to suggest. Be more civil in your words. You can suggest what you want. Defend what you want. Offer any opinion you like. Just choose to do it in a civil manner.

Excuse us for pointing out the incentives for paid membership. If you want to participate in a Free Study (at the moment) you have to pay. Now, you can pay for just a month and not the whole year.

In case you didn't realize, typing in all caps (no not just in this thread) is a kin to yelling. If you're really upset about something maybe you should send a ticket to the SC (that's done under the help menu).

im not upset about anything and mean no ill will toward anybody, i do find it juvenile that i suggest a challenge and here you members come with your, "oh just pay the money" bs, well it really wasn't geared towards wanting your opinions at all, i was hoping to get some registered users input about it and maybe, hopefully get enough of them interested so that the site council would approve/do the challenge, but you members have to come out with guns blazing, i agree that in the past, i may have made comments typed in all caps but im not gonna look at your picture and see that it has NO PINK whatsoever in it when the challenged was dubbed "Pink" and not comment and tell you that I think you dnmc, sorry, and furthermore.....the bottom line is that i don't need the opinions of the members, it was pretty clear in the earlier try of this post that you all weren't in favor of it and that is fine, i was wanting some registered users input, but it got turned into something else and this thread will probably be closed again due to that, but i will suggest it again, and again, and again until you members figure it out, its just a game for me, i don't need to submit my pics to this site in every challenge to boost my ego like you all do, i do it for fun, thats it, and yeah i get frustrated about DNMC's and the same thing winning every fricking challenge, at least i have the cojones to say something about it, that is all

What I find most curious is how you did not see that I had no problem with the idea, and even offered a proactive solution to making it happen. It is curious you did not see this, from a member. You only saw what you chose to see and felt you needed to defend yourself on that. Very curious.

I have spent many days on this website as a registered user. A very poor college student. So poor in fact that I had a membership or two Gifted to me in the past. Though I proved to be a valuable individual on the site.

So please, review what is being said and what you are replying with. It is very curious indeed.

I take it you don't think much of the 'Members' then Sean. If i were you i'd try not to get too wound up by it. Take a deep breath or two. Perhaps a hot bath with some aromatherapy oils. Or maybe just a quiet stroll in a park.

Ultimately, you need to be selling this idea to Langdon. What is your sales pitch to him? What does the site gain from a Registered Users Only Freestudy?
12/12/2009 08:43:35 PM · #36
why do I get the feeling he is just doing this to get a riot going?

Like it has been said before, you can suggest it, but it is doubtful it will happen because it's like asking Burger king to give away a free fries just because you walked into their restaurant.

Give it up. Its not happening and quite frankly I dont think anyone here wants to hear it anymore.

Sony I will happily provide you with a gift membership if you are would like to participate in the Free Studies.

12/12/2009 08:48:59 PM · #38
think about it.....ONE, COUNT THEM ONE, registered users free study....what would that do financially...hmmmm let see, we wouldn't be competing against members....that's the plus for us....financially for langdon.....it might give some of the registered users the initiative to join as a member, if they were able to get a feel for what the members get to do, they might be persuaded to become a member

and no i am not trying to start a riot, that was never the intention although it got turned into that.....thanks JulietNN but I will join in my own time, perhaps if this challenge gets approved i will consider it, but thanks for the offer

The way I see it, being a registered member is similar to a "free trial" of the site; simply a way to allow people to try out the site with certain challenges and if they like it, they can join. I know this isn't what is is called, but it is essentially how I see it. I am not a member... and I have no problem with accepting the fact that to participate in the free studies or member challenges. Maybe if I decide to become more active on this site I will join. $25/year is really cheap, nearly 1 percent of what some of people spend on DSLRs.

If you want to participate in the free study so bad, why not join? I know it has been said many times before, but I think it still is a valid point.

EDIT: just some grammar stuff.

Bolding something rather than yelling usually gets a bit better response.
12/12/2009 08:53:20 PM · #41
Well, Sonny,no probs on not having the membership.

I would like to say this to you though: there is a saying;

You get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.

12/12/2009 09:00:22 PM · #42
Well i originally tried using honey juliet, but those little buggers wanted the vinegar and so.....

Please don't join....we would like to keep this place as stress free as possible. If you are willing to ease your tantrums a bit...then please join...until then...please go away and calm down a bit.

12/12/2009 09:20:25 PM · #47
certain ones, why?
12/12/2009 09:25:45 PM · #48
All rightyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Judiiiiiiiii

There is a level you don't want to go below, unlike some people.

We are a class unto ourselves. Remember that

sonyalphausr, youre walking on thin ice. I would suggest you quit while youre ahead.
12/12/2009 09:38:41 PM · #50
Sony, a suggestion.,

Why dont you make a side challenge just for non members that is a FreeStudy. You can run it for a couple of months and see what the interest level is. Then you can put your findings to Landon.

Cos it doesn't matter what any of us say, this is NOT our website, it is HIS. HE makes the decisions on this , not us.

So supply him with the information, the pro's and cons and work with him with this,

Now that is the best idea I have had all day. ( not been a good day!)
