Anyone is ising this? How is the workflow?

I'm using Lightroom right know and although it is very demanding for computer power, the results are very good.

The problem is when I'm shooting weddings and I have to print proofs (80% of the times) at location. Then LR is too slow and i ttake me about 1 hour just to import the photos and do the previews of the photos. And after that I have to do a quick selection, do minor corrections and export jpegs and then I use an external program for the proof printing (because of color consistency - printing directly from LR the result is not so good). So this takes me between 3 to 4 hours.

Is the ACDSee workflow good? For what I've herad at least is fast.

Could you please give me some feedback of your experience?

I see on their site that they offer a 30 day free trial, so why not try it and see? I know this software has been around a long time and has grown into something far greater than the shareware app it started out as. I recall having a copy in a user group shareware library back around '90.

It's not going to be even close to LR in its approach to editing (I don't think it's metadata based).

ACDSee 2 Pro was a buggy beast. I stopped using it because it always crashed under Vista. It was, I'd say, the least compatible Vista program ever, and they never fixed it.

For going through the pictures quickly, try this (as a supplement to LR): FastPictureViewer. It's incredibly fast, and may let you go through and delete what you don't want during your first pass, and while LR is perhaps importing.

As a bonus just for trying it, you'll get a free Codec that will let you preview NECs right from Explorer. (The Codec is free so you don' even need to keep using FastPictureViewer to keep it. I am just a user. I registered and paid for the program (it's not expensive either, but it doesn't have a wide gamut of functionality.

I have used ACDSee forever and now use the Pro 3 and now using it in Windows 7 without any problems or bugs as mentioned. I also have Elements, Nikon Capture and Paint Shop Pro.

I find PSP and ACDSee easy to use, fast and can do about anything you would like to do with images and so much simpler to use than any very high priced, confusing to use Adobe products.

Easy to use and fast is very relative subjects if you don't compare programs.

My laptop is not a top one but is a dual core T7200 with 4 GB or ram and it's quite fast. But having 16GB of files representing about 800 files from a D300 and a D700 you're look ing for trouble. And that's what I'm up to at a wedding.

So I know that Lightroom rocks. About 90% of my comercial work don't eveng get to PS because LR resolvs all the issues. But having litle time to sort and quick correct about 600 files for printing it's no light work at a wedding reception.

This is the point of view that I was talking about.

Even if I use anothr program to openprint the file sat the wedding probably I would import the files to LR again back home just for the quality.
