There are a few people who take a shot that, on first glance really doesn't meet the challenge. But the more you look at it, you suddenly start thinking just how brilliant it is. How you never would have considered something like that until they showed you the way. These are the artists. The ones that can take photography and make it into something special, something that goes beyond a simple catalog of life.
If we have to put up with shoehorns that aren't clever, creative or funny so we can also get these spectacular shots, I think we can live with it!
btw, my score has dropped as well, and it's definitely a "by the book" polka shot. So perhaps we just have had harsh voters. Hopefully we'll get some happy voters back. I was liking the 6.3s, but I haven't seen anything like it in a little while now. |
I agree with you Wendy, and I know exactly what you are saying when it comes to people not seeing things at first glance. I still think that if you eliminate the blatant shoehorns it would make the voters look closer at the ones that actually are brilliant but they don't get at first. In general we do agree though.

LOL. Yes Steve I've seen your shoehorn collection. When you shoehorn it's to make a point or be funny etc. In other words you know that your entry is a shoehorn and will be taken that way for a laugh, and it's entertaining. :)

Now this one I understand. DNMC. It was also over 6 first dozen votes. Then about the same time the DNMC views of the challenge in this post hit, the scored has been dropping ever since. Personally I was just hoping to break 5.
