I'm getting into indoor basketball photography, and want to improve my focus hit percentage.
Can anyone recommend a book or tutorial on Canon AF tracking setup and technique for the non-1D shooter?
Recent gallery here - took over 1200 shots to get these few decent ones, deleting hundreds of OOF...

The biggest issue you are going to be fighting is unfortunately the tool in your hand. The 5D is not a great or even good sports camera. The Al-servo focus on that body is poor at best. There are great sports photogs who use and get great shots with it. However I can assure you its more of the photog then the camera in those cases. If I were you I'd look into grabbing a used 1DMKII to use for your indoor sports, they can be had in great shape for less then $1000.00.

You're right Matt - I tried to buy your MkII when it was for sale, but I was a bit too late.
I agree the 5D is a poor sports camera. I find my 40D better, but not great!
Until I can get a better body, I'm still looking for any AF hints that will help... |
