I also vote between a 4 to a 7 right off the bat based on a first impression then shift them around as the week goes on.

That way I can manage large numbers of photos. Also, I do compare between photos but I ususally stay within genre's, meaning..Lets say you are 1 of 10 macro flower shots I will compare those and choose my favorites..best portrait style..and so on and so on.

I usually have a top ten that I work from to choose my favorites.

Nobody gets a 1 or a 2 anymore but I do have lots of 3's, 4's, 5's and 6's in my voting while reserving 7, 8, 9, and 10 for my favorite stuff.

My favorite shot of the week gets a 10 always.

I have given as many as 3 "10's" in one challenge. I try to keep my average score given, in the 5.0 range.

Here is the original question that started it all. The person was clearly unsure of how strict the rules were. I was saying that I used "translucent" as a broader definition of this challenge, and I was called narrow-minded for using a broader definition. So, would anyone else like to try?

I am still pretty new here, so I am not sure exactly how some of the rules work. I did not submit a photo for this weeks challenge because I just couldn't get a clear picture. Semi- Transparent means you can only partially see through it? Correct, water is transparent...unless you live in West Texas. Saran Wrap is transparent. I am not knocking anyones photo ata ll so please don't flame me. I am just wondering how strict the challenge rules are here. Thanks, Tiffany AKA rkymtndream

That is pretty funny!

Thanks,I guess I just misunderstood the challenge. I was think it HAD to be SEMI-transparent. I had a really hard time with it. Now I know. Now to catch fear.....it is going to be a long week. I wondering if a pic of my 5 boys standing in the kitchen in the morning is fearful enough. I know I am scared. Or maybe the grocery bill...hmmmmmm...............

I don't understand the thinking behind having a predetermined number of particular scores such as '10's'. It has always been my understanding that each picture should be voted on individually and let the votes fall where they fall. Yes, it is a contest of sorts but we aren't supposed to pick a clear winner, our combined votes do.
