Looking for books, websites or .pdf guides that go into detail on posing, lighting (natural/studio), and what apertures/lens do use and when...etc.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

well, apertures and lens is entirely up to you and more about what you're trying to achieve rather than any die-hard rules.
If i'm doing headshots I use the 85mm or the 70-200. If I'm doing full bodies I'll use the 50mm. Aperture is dependent on what setting I'm in and again, what I'm trying to achieve- a studio requires I step down further for the lighting whereas outdoors I love using f/2.2 - f/4.
With regards to posing... there was a great pdf out there that somebody will link you to. It is useful but very 'stock' and not very interesting (to me at least). A good place to start is magazines. Look in magazines that have similar work/adverts to what you want to go for and see how they do it, see how the light shapes them.
The posing in Hustler is very different to the posing in Gardening Monthly. |
