I'm looking for opinions about Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro and Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro. They are both cheap and would fit my budget perfectly, better if I find a used one on Ebay. I liked also the price of Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 MACRO DG and its focal lenght would be better for general use, but I don't know also if it is good or not.
Please let me know what you think about those 2 lenses so I can decide what to buy.

I have the Sigma. Actually, I've had it for quite some time now and have moved away from it with faster glass, but I can't find myself to part with it. The Sigma does a very nice job, especially for the price. Take a look at what Anna ( Budya) has done with it.
Hmmm...maybe I should dust that baby off and give it another run now that I think about it. :-P |

I have the sigma 70-300. It's a decent lens. It's better to hold than the kit lens because it's bigger but the IQ isn't quite as good as the kit lens. I bought it because it was cheap and I wanted to shoot birds but I've found that even on a crop sensor it isn't long enough. You also need a lot of light in order to get a sharp shot with it because the shutter needs to be at least 1/500s when extended to 300mm. I'd recommend that you use a tripod or at least a monopod with it.
I have gotten some pretty good shots with it but those were in optimal conditions. If I had more money I'd buy the Canon 100-400mm or the Canon 400mm or a sigma 400-500mm lens.

Thanks everybody... It looks like it's a good choice for the price. I'm looking for used ones on ebay, if you know of anybody wanting to sell one of these, please let me know.
