What is going on? Ive just entered my first challenge, the "blue" challenge after getting my first real camera. All week ive been checking my ratings and getting excited for the outcome. When I checked my score several minutes ago the site informs me that ive been disqualified(Reason: This image was submitted under the old rules for the site, which stated 'no borders of padding' could be added to your image. Sorry).
Well i dont even know what "borders of padding is, but im pretty sure i didnt use it. I did not use a border. The only thing I did was some cropping, and some brightness/contrast adjustments. I hope this is a mistake and can be rectified. My entry was "Rainy Day Blues" and was at around a 6.2 rating.

Sometimes if you crop 'outside' the actual size of the picture on one border you in fact enlarge the canvas beyond the border , creating a 'line/border' there, usually white.
This is probably what happened and I am sorry if you were at 6.2 .. but please do not be too much upset with the site. The rules are to be fully followed. It's is VERY frustrating when it's by 'mistake'. It did nt happen to me but you are not the first one.
PLease keep the faith.

There was a grey line along the top and bottom of your submission. Luckily, Blue was the last week of that rule, so we won't have to worry about this at all anymore. I'm sorry it had to affect you :(

There were a couple this week with accidental 1 pixel borders. I loved your shot by the way and scored it very highly. Unfortunately, under the old rules, even accidental borders had to be disqualified to be fair under the rules.
Under the new rules, however, this will not be a problem. It's not the first time it's happened, but it will be the last. :)
With that shot though, I surely hope to see more work from you! It is a nice shot.

I'm sorry to hear about this disqualification because this was my definite favourite of all the photos in BLUE.

Well I must say this is a dissapointment, but I appreciate the supportive words from everyone. I'm glad to hear this rule is a goner as it seems a shame to disqualify someone for something this microscopic and unintentional. Anyway, I'll be back for another try next week! D Tobin

I'm glad that you will be back next week. If you want you can still show your photo in the forums to get opinions on it. BTW, welcome to the site.

If it helps encourage you, I had the same thing happen to me about 20 challenges ago...
Also, this rule HAS been strictly and consistently enforced -- probably one reason so many people requested its removal...so hang in there and keep up the good work!

BTW--I was interested in checking something out with this photo -- If you don't mind, could you email me a low-res but uncropped/unadjusted version?

Generalie and others, here is a link to the picture(Rainy Day) as well as some others. Thanks again for all supportive comments. I just realised this version of the pic does have a border, but the submitted one to dpchallenge did not(other than from the cropping). Generalie, i will try to email you an exact version of the submitted copy if that is what you want. D Tobin
