With the 60 year anniversary of the battle of Normandy coming up I figure many countries around the world will have some sort of rememberances. Might be a good "global" challenge idea. You can do everything from memorials, to battlefield sites, to people.

Just an idea. :)

Good idea, but most people in the world don't really care about it or know, or even think about how the allied nations in WWII basically saved the world from facist dictatorship 60 years ago. But I like the idea anyway. :)

MOre of a reason to do it then. History can only be taught in the present.

I would love to get back to this one again for a reshoot..all the more reason.

If this challenge takes place I suggest, in the interests of historical accuracy, the Americans only join in half-way through.

I'm sorry, I don't understand German... oh no, wait... you're still speaking English aren't you. ;)

This is also a great ideea because finaly this will be a challenge where frogs, flowers, fishes, birds, chicades, dandy's flying motorcycles, and such wont do too good. I hope.

Ohh, this is fun! :)

However, then to be truly accurate the English would have to get their butts kicked and only barely survive because the Americans took the photos for them.

For hystorical acuracy I'd have to loose because americans would turn theyr backs on east europeans. I think a russian star would do a good brown ribbon. :)

First you would have to provide cameras for us on a lend/lease agreement...

Now if we want to get technical, it would be a quarter of the way. Then of course there would be the US providing supplies prior to December of 41...so we could probably squeeze them in there. :)

Now play nice! :) Or do we really want to start debating if the French should be allowed to play on this challenge? ;)

Clara- the BBC actually flew my dad over to do a radio interview on the D-Day invasion. w00t!

I was just thinking- this is a great portrait oppertunity. Something to think about. If you can, call a local retirement center. Explain that you are working on a project dealing with WW2 and ask if there are any residents who participated/lived through that era who would be able to talk with you.

Then spend an hour with someone listening to their memories. Ask to take their photo. You have a picture with a story. So there's no excuse for anyone being unable to participate in this. :)
