Would it be possible to change the size of the tumbnails on the voting overview page so that they're square, and both hoizontal and vertical pictures would have the same initial impact? As a slave to vertical composition I find it a bit frustrating that my thumbnails always look half the size of the horizontally framed pictures. I know that voting always occurs at full size, but first impressions are important, yes?

I'd also like the second the motion that once initial voting has been done on *all* photographs you should be able to modify your votes directly from the thumbnail page. Man would that be nice for fine-tuning your decisions! It's a pain when you want to change a vote and it automatically advances to the next picture even if you're already voted on it. Perhaps you could also fix it so that it leaps forward to the next non-voted on picture after a vote, and stays on the same picture if all of them are already done.

I'm not sure whether you're suggesting squishing the aspect ratios of the thumbnails, or arbitrarily sub-cropping them; either way, I think that'd make a worse first impression than displaying them as they are now.

It'd be nice to be able to update votes from the thumbnail page, yes.

I was suggesting that the thumbnails could be square, so that horizontal pictures have borders along the top and bottom, and vertical pictures would have borders on the right and left. As it is, the vertical pictures get shrunk quite a bit to fit into the 4:3 aspect thumbnail. If the aspect were 1:1, both types of pictures would get shrunk exactly the same amount.

Mousie -- this makes sense and is probably a good idea. We can't get it implemented until next challenge though since submissions have been received... when you submit your photograph it auto-resizes it.

Thanks for the idea though.
