Since it came up... Why is the Cintiq so expensive? I know they were $2500 a couple of years ago but I don't think that the drop in monitor cost is properly reflected in the the $1999 price. I'm surprised a company like View Sonic hasn't tried to get to the Photo Shop users with a lower cost alternative.

The Compaq version is not what is needed because you can't touch the screen with anything but the finger you're using or it gets all screwed up. However it is interesting that they can offer the touch screen with a full fledged computer for less then the Cintiq.

I bought an Wacom a few years back and didn't like it, either. I think you really have to use it enough to become comfortable with it, but the learning curve must be brutal. For the few weeks I had mine, I felt like I was trying to edit with ski gloves on!

I just came back form the Photoshop World conference and one of the things I decided to do was buy an Intous 4 large (it comes in Sm. Md, Lg, and XL)and Corel Painter 11. They are now on order and when B&H opens back up they will ship. Can't wait but I do know it will be a learning curve.

You'll never regret it.
