I just didn't want it to look like a digital painting. I give up on HDR, You can keep it. It is not about taking pictures anymore it is about who can munipulate their photo the best in a editing program.

Don't give up HDR, just give up on expecting others to like the natural HDR look.

I'm in the same boat. My image looks like a regular photograph. I like it though.

Grrrr. I was going to re-edit this and then forgot to. So now my "placeholder" is actually being voted on. :(

How do you see your score? I can't seem to find that anywhere.

It's on the left top of your "My Home".
Are you sure you submitted?

Go to "My Home" and click on the "Update" link underneath your thumbnail...
Beware: this is addictive!

The score is right on your main page just under the image thumbnail of your entry. The only way to know the individual votes is to use a spreadsheet like the one linked on ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_N.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_N.gif', '/') + 1) . ' HawkeyeLoneWolf's profile page.

The first 4 brings me down to an even 6.0 I think this one will be a rollercoaster.

The last 3 HDR challenges all showcased Landscapes with nothing else in them. Anything with a person, animal or any non-landscape subject finished low. HDR is not purely about landscape.

I am seriously disappointed with the voting of late...and looking at all the low votes in this thread I wonder if the above reasoning is taking place. For the people that are voting that way...you really need to take a step back and realise that you are missing out on some truly wonderful images.

Now people with the low votes...let's get out there and override the low votes by voting on the nicely done images!!!!

Not for me :-( I'm at 12 votes and in the 5.5's, haven't been higher than 5.63 nor lower than 5.54. A perfectly average picture, apparently.

R.

News flash; disregard above, now 5.4 after 15...

I love HDR...It is by far my favorite type of photography thus far. Maybe due to my level of colorblindness they turn out after prcessing just appeals to me. I think it's a very versitle style and I plan to keep at it and get better in taking images to the right level. I know this style is not for everyone, but I am hooked.

NONONONO!! It was not fun! I spent hours and hours playing with the stupid programs (trial versions and free software), nothing worked right. It created strange aliasing that I spent forever trying to downplay, worked with other images, cursed, swore, only to find out much, much later that I needed to convert the RAW before playing with the software.

spent even more time (at least it was a little better). Tried to email a RAW file to a friend, crashed my email, crashed the hdr program multiple times.

Finally got my entry in. Luckily I don't particularly care about the score, since I have no clue what I'm doing. But it was NOT fun. Hmmm, wonder if any of my 9s shots can be HDRd... :D

Another jump like that and I'll be doing great!! :) (but I know the next probable change won't be so good. Probably not even in the right direction).

Like I said, not heading in the right direction. But, a more realistic direction considering my entry.

Hate to burst your bubble Judi but I have a landscape in and my score started in the mid sixes (first score was a 10!) and has slowly sunk to 5.7 after 15 votes. I think there is low voting going on from those in both camps, who knows for sure. Anyway I have enjoyed to variety in the challenge.

I understand that HDR is not about landscapes only, but the shot's that have a lot of movement and seems to be a single capture with "fake" hdr (if that exists) deserve a good vote? I don't know about that. And speaking for me, i spent SOME time taking shots of things whithout much movement because i think i had to combine the shots for HDR.

I was extremely upset today. I spent a lot of time on my shot. I walked for what seemed like forever to get the shot, I work on the HDR, actually several HDR pictures. Then I fussed over which picture to pick for the challenge. I get to upload it and my power cable goes out on me and i cant upload the thing! I felt like this was a good challenge to me because I do a lot of HDR work. Oh well, missed opportunities has always been a good teacher.

I think that photos closer to the front are getting more votes than the ones near the end. I only have 4 votes and some peopel have 13-20. So I can only assume my images is at the end and many people are not going through all the images. Not that it will likely improve my score, but I do think if you are going to vote at all you should at least vote on all in the challenge. However, this is my first challenge so I don't know how it works.

HA!!! My bubble is bigger than yours....at least you started with a 10 and sunk to a 5.7. I am still in low 4'sw...my highest is a 4.5 so far....so there....ner...ner! My photo is worst than your photo!!

Down into average range, which is really what I expected. After looking over the field I see some awesome stuff, and I will be pleased with a mid-pack finish. I think this challenge was easier for those who have done some of these techniques before. I'm not an HDR expert, but I did know how to proceed and what works for me.
