Yeah, but we were being nice and not naming names.

I got a 3, and mine is overprocessed, but I actually like the look for this picture. I think overprocessing works sometimes, and not others.

Mine's not over-processed, just a bit dull = 5. Actually, I think he's right!

apparently my entry really is pretty terrible. until today i didnt have home access to a calibrated monitor, so.... well, its a bit scary. very, very overdone. parts of it look good though. oh well. a 5.6 makes me happy

I need to remember that good but boring generally doesn't work around because it is still boring...

He gave me a very low score, but the two voters/commenters just above his comment loved the image. One of those two subsequent commenters said that they gave me a 10.

That's okay, Ed (K10Guy)...I'll forgive you. I even marked your comment as helpful.

Yeah, I got one of his. It seemed a bit harsh.

Not that bad. I'm copier tech, so I've seen scarier. Cool thing is, it's given me an opportunity to retake ownership of the Powershot S5 page. (Hey, I need something to cling to!)

That's because I'm voting on reaction. Period. That can sometimes be very, very harsh.

Just wondering... Do you only give those scores? Or are the ones in between used, too? For instance, do you ever give an 8 or a 9? Or do your choices go from 7 straight to 10?

For this particular challenge, I'm only using the numbers I wrote.

For the record, I wasn't trying to be 'right' or 'wrong', as there really isn't such a thing.

Got a comment from ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' k10dguy also but Im not mad at him. Hes just being honest. People need to just listen and learn from others critiques, take it as constructive criticism! Learn from mistakes in one challenge and improve in the next.

And I actually do agree with him on mine also, looking back at it, :(

I agree he is just being honest, but he gave me a 1 so I would have to say he is being very brutal. Becuase he didn't say anything other than how he is rating the challenge. I can not come out and say he has been helpful in any way other than basically telling me my photo sucks because it is not HDR enough in his opinion.

It's not always about being helpful. Sometimes the most in-depth critique is utterly un-helpful.
