You need a back brace to shoot all day. Ha

The past few days ive been shooting a lot and my back is very crampy and sore, and think a brace would help. And my workload is definitely not going to go down, fall sports are just kicking in.

Anyone else use one? I could use some suggestions for useful braces

Dang, girlie, falling apart at 17?! What are you going to do when you are a senior citizen of 30 or so? Got a solution for you. Send me that heavy EOS 5D, and I will exchange it for a nice, light Powershot S5. No need to thank me, it's just what I do for friends.

during football season, my right shoulder kills me. figured out it was from shooting games all day.

i'm using a monopod this year, and while I don't really "like" it, the benefits of not having shoulder pain, and more focused shots are worth it.

i used to use my monopod for football, and i guess it would come in handy for soccor as well. but, like you said, i dont really 'like' mine either

Exercise is the best solution.

Can't help with a back brace, but I suffered awful wrist pain last week and tennis elbow (?) for the past month or so. Shooting a DSLR (with a big lens) from the hip can't be ergonomically correct!

lol no i dont think so.

and for Spaz, it usually takes a few games for my arms and back to get into shape for shooting, but this year they are just getting crampy rather then stronger. whats with that?

I'll take your load you take mine. Typical night of shooting here is my gear. 1DMKIII and a 300F2.8 with or without and extender, 1DMKII and 70-200F2.8 on the other shoulder. Sometimes I use a monopod for the 1DMKIII and 300 but most times I handhold it. Come play with me for a few weeks, I'll have you wishing for the 5DMKII back. :D

I know. (Please tell that to my 19 year old daughter who doesn't believe it.)

But, I said not to thank me. Deal's off now! Your loss.

I soooooooo have no sympathy for your 5D MKII problems, or your 17 year old body!

(You young whippersnapper, you!)

That said, I *DO* understand seeing as how I'm surprised how much heavier my D200 is than my D70s.

Sit-ups!.......8>)

You get lots of sympathy from me! After my first 10 hour day of straight shooting with a heavy lens, my back was killing me. I was totally shocked by just how horrible I felt. Had to do it all over again the next day. Sigh. Figured I'd never make it. I made a point of holding the camera when not shooting instead of just letting it hang around my neck and - woot! - it was all much better.

Anyone know if there's a neck strap out there that distributes the weight someplace else? Of course, it might not be called a neck strap then....

I don't hang the camera around my neck. I use Optech straps I got from CPS and I hang them over my shoulder. I also have a Rapidstrap that I carry the second body on and it hangs the weight on your shoulder and distributes it nicely.

thats exactly what im talking about. and usually when im not shooting i put the tripod mount facing up so i can hold it and let the camera lean against a hip. less strain on the back. let yeah, maybe a shoulder strap like what MattO was talking ab out would do me good. ill look into it

Monopod is the way to go! However that being said. My shoulder is killing me from lugging my heavy tripod around all week while I trying to get my HDR shot. I think it is time to upgrade to some carbon fiber legs.

I've actually gotten a cramp in my shoulder from carrying my camera around all day and the only thing I've found that helps is to put the d@mn thing down......

NOT gonna happen!.....LOL!!!......8>)

I had similar problems, sore back, sore neck, etc. Switch to the "R" strap and haven't had any problems since. Can carry more than one camera at the same time too. Simple to use, hangs on the hip, larger lenses don't field weird the way they hang. Try blackrapid.com

A cheaper way to have something like this is to buy a beaner or two and attach them to a backpack. This is what i do when hiking
