These are two photos taken this week with my new D70. Opinions please.

These are two great shoots.
I like so much of the Rope at Sunset. It seems to be a paint. You get a nice light condition and perspective here. Good exposure and tonal range. You got done th home work very well.

Beautiful! Did you do anything to the rope photograph or is it "as is" out of the camers? texttext

That is right out of the camera. The levels were adjusted slightly in the Lady Slipper photo.

The rope one is staggering, straight from the camera.make a great print,
lady slipper looks just as good but I don't care for the background, maybe unavoidable but it seems a little distracting.
Wish I could get my hands on this camera, or a rebel, both great tools.

Well, they're nice...I prefer the rope over the plant. Not very exciting either way. But mabey you were'nt looking for excitment? Basicly "Nice".

Rick,

It appears that you are enjoying your new gear. The clarity of the rope pic, surpasses anthing you've entered into a challenge so far. The detail is spot on. The grain on the posts is detailed. The end of the rope correctly hangs in a "thirds" zone. The contrast is good. A solid 8 from me.
