I was thinking the same thing.... i think the first round we can keep it simple, but having match plays and best ball tournaments would be awesome. Special awards for longest drive (biggest improvement on score in any single hole), and most greens in regulation (most consistently under par/handicap).

Just started the first one, and I am already looking forward to number two.

Oi.... I hadnt thought of that. I guess it wont alter percentages too much, maybe a point or two up or down, so I will probably just leave them alone, and eliminate any dq's from the leaderboard.

As for the side challenge, did you want in?

When does this start btw?

Question:

Will the Handicaps be adjusted weekly to compensated for peoples good showings or bad showings for the week or are we just keeping the same handicap for the 9 weeks???

If they will be changing, can we have a weekly update of our new handicaps as well?

Aw, what the hey, Could you add me as well?

No, the handicaps will not change. It would be far too much work to constantly update them, so the handicap at the beginning will remain for the duration. The only exception is for people who have less than 4 challenges in total, I will update their handicap once they reach 4 challenges overall.

Are you making up a spreadsheet or something to keep track of all the numbers? Exactly what do entrants have to do besides enter all the challenges?

I have been thinking about doing this for a while, but only recently worked out the scoring and the rules. What I would like to propose is a golf style tournament for DPC. Hopefully there will be enough people interested in this to give it go.

Here is how it will work:

Rules:
9 weeks of Open Challenges
Score will be based on your percentile finish, not on the average attained by your photo.
Handicap determined by the average percentile finish of your last ten challenges.
Every 5% improvement in your finish compared to your handicap scores as -1.0
Every 5% reduction in your finish compared to your handicap scores as +1.0

For example:
If in my last ten challenge entries, my average percentile finish is 70%, 70 is my handicap.
After the first hole, if my finish in the challenge is 25th out of 100, I am in the 75th percentile, a 5% improvement on my handicap. I score -1.0 for the hole.

After 9 holes, the lowest score wins.

Extra Rules:
Users with 4-10 challenges will have a handicap of the average of however many challenges they have entered so far.
Users with 0-3 challenges entered will start with a handicap of 50%, but the handicap will be revised after their first 4 challenges.
All users have two mulligans (you can scrap your worst two scores after the 9 holes are done, or you can miss up to two challenges without it hurting your score).
If you miss more than two challenges, the percentile score entered will be 0%.

Start Date:
The first hole will be for the challenges announced at midnight on September 8th, and submitted on September 15th, and will continue for each round of open challenges for 9 weeks until the tournament is done.

Here is a look at the DPC Open Leaderboard, to give you a peek at how the scoring could look after 9 weeks. Huge thanks to jeger to hosting the leaderboard.

So, how about it, are you up for a round of PhotoGolf?

I almost forgot, here are the prizes:

Yeah, I am making a spreadsheet for all the tracking and calculations of the score. jeger has been kind enough to host the leaderboard portion of the spreadsheet on his site. This is what it will look like:
