The 3D Studio is new to Stock Photos / Images but they are not a new company. They started in 1996 with offering offering 3D and 2D resources.

I signed up with them in the beginning of August 09. They managed with only part of my portfolio and less then a month to reach place 5 in my sales statistic for this month. I was not even interest to sign up with another agency in the moment, but after reading in another forum about contributors have good luck with sales there I decided singe up with them.

artist commission: 60%
affiliate commission sales rate: 20%
affiliate seller referral rate: 5%
PayPal: no minimum
Price: set your own
Upload process: fast (but you have to pick one category per image)
model/property release: one time upload and then just selection

The images are instantly live on our website and listed with an Editorial Only license. From there, reviewers will look at each and every image to see if it can be approved for a Royalty Free license.

Hey that is a pretty cool website. I am an autocad drafter and I'm currently learning about the 3d modelling. Infact I have just recieved 3ds max and I am in the process of learning it.... It might take me a while to have a good enough product to sell. What type of people buy these type of stock images? (archetects or what)

What type of modeling/animation are you doing with Max? Ive been using it for a number of years actually, shhhh its part of my dayjob lol

One of the render engines for 3dsmax (V-Ray) is the main reason I got in to photography with the virtual cameras it was using...

Just wanted to say thanks to oboy for the post and say "hi" to you all. If anyone has any questions about The3dStudio.com feel free to let me know and I will be happy to answer whatever I can.

I will do my best to keep an eye on this post but I'm not a huge forum follower so I can also be reached at support@the3dstudio.com as well (especially if you need a fast reply).

Everything oboy has posted is spot on and the 5% lifetime referral is also correct and you can see more details of that in our help section: //www.the3dstudio.com/help.aspx?id_help=12

I hope some of you will give us a try (for 3D or stock).

To cowboy, one of our biggest customer segments is architects :) As for who uses images, they're everywhere you look any time you open a magazine, newspaper, blog article, and so on. On the 3D side, our customers include architects, military, advertising agencies, game developers, movie/ts producers, and so on.

I don't know about the email you received, but I continue to receive sales there and I received my first payout there a couple of days ago. So I can tell you at least that they payed me promptly.

Something I usually take a look at for agencies that I may sign up with is Alexa //alexa.com/siteinfo/the3dstudio.com If the rank is below 100.000 then I take a closer look. The 3D Studio has in the moment a rank of ~ 24.000 That is not bad at all.

The 3d Studio announced today a Member Loyalty Program
//photoinfos.blogspot.com/2009/09/the3dstudiocom-has-500000-resources-and.html

You have to agree to sell with them for the next 5 years, and for that your receive 10% more royalty. That mounts up then to 70% royalty rate.

After seeing this thread, I signed up with 3D. I had very low expectations. However, I uploaded a hundred images to test the 3D waters.

Yesterday, I made my first sale for a $2.40 royalty. I guess I'll upload some more.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for Crestock to review my test upload, and for 123RF to display my images on keyword queries.

Crestock is moving very slow right now so you might be waiting for a while.
