This is "Stretch", The Great Egret. He was in the ditch along the road through a tomato field, and as usual, I shot this from the driver's seat of my work truck. The blur in the foreground is the edge of the ditch. This bird is not too skittish, since he has seen a lot of people, and they don't bother him while he is there.
Manual 300mm @ f 5.6 Hand held.

I got some great shots today but I have limited internet this weekend so uploading might be tough and I'm going to have to process them as well.
Here is one of my favorite images. It's the first good image that I took and the one that got me absolutely addicted to photography and wanting to improve.

Oh, I almost forgot about this side challenge, so I'm pulling a shot from my portfolio this week. This is one of my favorite wildlife shots. It makes me laugh to see the beast hiding behind the flowers.

I totally held my breath while taking this one. The little fox was almost too friendly and came very, very close. It was almost dusk and I did not have a tripod with me at the time. I hate that I cropped the ears, but I was trying to get a good shot of the eyes...

Hi,
I'm a new member but I would like to participate in this side challenge if possible. When viewing the other members submissions, I see that they've all been uploaded to DPChallenge. I can't find anywhere to do that other than the portfolio which is only available to paying accounts. Is there a way to submit photos on a free account so I can get my feet wet before making a decision to sign up for a paying account?
Edit: What the heck, this looks like too much fun to pass up. I've signed up for an account. :-)

You can enter open challenges and participate that way for awhile. I believe that the photos you enter can then be used in the forums. Over time you will get a feel if you want to spend the $25/yr on membership. Good luck and welcome to DPC. |

It's nice to get comments, so if you put your photos somewhere like Flickr, and post the link, we could leave comments.
