This was shot from the driver's seat, using a monopod. I put the leg on the windowsill on the passenger's side to keep the camera stable. Where I work, there are a lot of farm and grove roads with no traffic, so I can just stop and shoot right from my truck while on the way to and from jobs.

I was going to post some moose too, but then I found bear images.
I am only posting shots from this last year for the first week, then I will start to show shots from this month I hope.
I got a couple comments on my polar bear shot about being close, I just want to be clear, that I was in a large, safe vehicle when I shot the PB's.
I always chose the animals safety and well being over my getting a shot. If I am distressing an animal I will usually leave.

I was also in my car when I took these. I took them in the same spot, maybe an hour a part, first the sow, then the male showed up, I decided they were likely a pair since they always travel together... so I merged them in the image, something I rarely do to wildlife images.

I will try to find some moose too. It is really great to see everyones images!

At the park near my house. Went out to get pictures for a different challenge, but these humming birds were putting on a show I couldn't pass up.

I shot this egret in full light but stopped down 1 stop .... 4.0 - 1/3200 and ISO 100 - I am posting a small shot of the original just out of the camera to show how much I cropped it ...

Edited:

This is the original:

These were shot with the 20D and I believe the 70 to 300 lens (could be forgetting and used the 70 to 200) .. a cheap lens but had some sweet spots - too bad I dropped it. As far as editing, I just sharpened it some, used silver efex, dodged and burned around the eyes and dodged a bit under the dark wing to make it pop. Sorry for posting these older shots - I will try to get out this week and find some new material. ONe good thing is that I am going through old files and finding photos I had forgotten.

Chad, I don't know where to leave comments on your hummers unless I just post them here... Love the colors of the flowers, the catch light in the hummers eye and the b/g sets it all of very nicely. I wonder what it would look like if you cropped it a little tighter ..the flowers flow out into a white patch that distracts from the bird ...

This is a shot of another neighbor, one of the barred owls that frequent my yard. This fellow decided to hang out in my backyard and let me photograph him for a stretch of 15-20 minutes. At first i thought he was injured, sitting on a branch, but he was fine and flew off without issue. We hear him more than see him these days, especially at 2-3 in the AM.

I shot this snowy egret last month during a photo walk with a few other local photographers. I loved so much about the shot but it really lacked detail in his feathers. I ran Topaz Adjust on it with the hopes of getting more detail, and I ended up liking the one with less detail more.

I also cropped the reflection out to make this work as a desktop background, and I it's now one of my favorites (with a black background behind it).

Back to bugs. Still grabbing things from my old shots since I have no time to shoot right now!

BTW, if anyone has the time or knowledge to ID this little guy, please do :-)

A female coyote we saw in the forest just outside of Grand Canyon, AZ. She spent quite a long time watching us watching her (from inside of the truck).

A bit earlier in the summer I travelled to a symposium on the Greek island of Aegina (I know - what a chore!). We took a ferry from Athens to the island and a number of gulls flew along side us on our journey. This meant that they were virtually stationary relative to us, allowing for some really crisp details to be captured.

One from earlier this year, March 2009. A Red Deer doe still in winter coat. Part of the herd of Red Deer that roam Windsor Great Park.
