In 33 high speed votes they voted 32 1s and one 10.

There was then a delay and the same process has started again.....

YES!! I have been watching the same thing in several challenges.. : ))

While those votes will probably get scrubbed, I recommend reporting the behavior to the SC via the Contact Us link.

I've done that before and to be honest they don't seem interested, they just say that they check that type of voting a the scrubber will fix it at the end.

I think when the overall quality of them as a group is mediocre, then the scores for a decent one is not going to be as high as it would be when they are better and people are used to giving out higher scores. I had so hoped this would be advanced editing and text would be allowed so that it would be more of a "book jacket" challenge. Oh well.

I do think some voters are thinking of an original title and when they don't see a photo that speaks to them of that book, they are also voting lower. The directive says that the photo should match the title, not the book.

From the looks of things scores seem to be running a bit lower than the norm. I know mine sure is, I didn't expect much out of my image, but I did think it my do a little better than it is.

I dunno. The shot itself is ok but I thought I could have come up with something better for the challenge. My wife absolutely insisted I enter it though.

Is it just me or do a lot of these images look like they don't match the rules for "Basic Editing"?

I think it is the new Topaz thingys going on .

I haven't enjoyed voting in a challenge as much as this one for a long time!!

You have rated 130 of 130 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.6769.

Yup. Have to admit I am enjoying the new rules. Trying to avoid laying it on too thick, though. Actually, I didn't use any Topaz on this one.

Looks like the happier voters are starting to come out, and I am slowly climbing.

Forgive me for asking because I've been out of the loop the last few months. What is Topaz?

Usually used in reference to Topaz Adjust, but can refer to any of their products. It provides a lot of ways of tweaking the exposure and detail of your image. It can be used just to give your image a bit of "pop" or it can give a completely over the top tone mapped look. We did a Topaz side challenge recently, that will give you lots of examples of what people are doing with it. I am currently beta testing a new one called Topaz Detail that is intended to give more realistic control over details in an image.

The basic rules were recently changed to allow the use of such software, as long as the results are kept reasonably photo-realistic. Whether something violates that rule or not, will be up to the site council. I used a modest amount of it on this basic editing entry recently:

Moving up a little. The extreme low voters seem to have had their fun and moved on.

Methinks there will be widespread reports of 1's very shortly.
