Oh.....I want to kick myself. So I noticed as I submitted my proof for The Username Challenge that my date stamp on my camera is one whole day off. My scheduled session with this little girl was on the 20th of July, and it recorded for the 19th. That stinks!!!! So I'll save you some time Site Council......I'm out. Congrats to the new 4th and 5th place winners. I'll go sulk in my corner now.....after I change that stupid date stamp.

DOH............

That's a big shame. Great photo, still.

I'm sorry that you've joined the Club I started in Position.

Mine was off by a whole year. *sigh*

I'm sorry...

Congrats on the great pic but more importantly for stepping up to the plate and admitting to the problem. It's a shame it had to happen but the fact that you are accepting it as your error is very noble.

OOPS! :-(

Just an FYI:

I let my Canon software pull files from my camera (never had any validation problems). It is set to automatically create folders inside my My Pictures folder by date for whatever date the photos were taken. This is also how I organize my directories. So if the date on my camera ever gets goofed, I'll realize it as soon as I attempt to browse the photos on my laptop.

SlipTip of the Day.

I usually go with the day I import them but shooting date might work better. Thanks the tip Slip. (Or thanks for the Sliptip Slip?)

Awww, man. Oh well, stuff happens eh? At least it wasn't a ribbon. Losing HMs are probably easier to take. heh.

Did you notice how many times you were in the posthumas thread?

I lost my original. Thought I had saved it and remembered my hard drive said it was full, so I thought I resaved it on my external hard drive, but I guess I didn't as a search for the file turned up nothing. I will be Dq'ed also...

Have you tried using file-recovery software on your card(s)? I might still be lurking there somewhere ...

Yes I tried this also, but the photos were taken at the beginning of the card and then were written over quickly after being reformatted.

EDIT: I have one SD card currently misplaced, but am fairly certain they are not on it.

I'm feel so sorry for both of you! Really, I would rather "win" a ribbon than move up because of someone else's misfortune!

I am sorry to hear that jd. It is a beautiful image...and deserves the recognition it received. I guess we can chalk this up to lesson learned.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's on the missing SD card!! I've had problems, as well, with my backup drive getting too full and not getting things copied over. I've switched to always shooting RAW for DPC challenges. Then I don't have to make a copy because the RAW files remains unedited.

Sorry Joe, I really liked that shot -- where is it taken anyway, I didn't recognize that spot?

FWIW, I try to avoid this situation by never erasing the images from the card until I've burned a backup to CD/DVD ...

It is the Point Bonita Light House. I am not sure if you have been or not, but if you go just pass the bridge to walk out, there is a fence and sign talking about the lighthouse. I put my tripod over the fence on the ledge and took the shot. There is a better, perhaps more dangerous spot, but I was stopped very quickly and told to get down, lol.
Good point on burning the photos. Although losing the ribbons hurts I am more bummed about losing the 2 sets of images. I had some with my D200 also.

My last two images have been asked for validation I think someone hates me out there each time I passed with ease! This time around I saved over the orginal! I think I'm going to get a DQ.
