This reminds me of the scene from "Monty Python and the Grail" where the "Knights who till recently said Ni" keep hurting themselves by repeatedly saying "It".

It's close, but not quite there.

Hi Everyone…

I’ve never posted in the “how’s the score going” forums until now. While being happy with the score, the two comments mention a horrible flaw in the picture that doesn’t exist. I’ll just point it out after the voting is over but can only imagine the hit I took on these. Has this ever happen to you guys?

It has happened to me numerous times. What starts to happen is you become hyper critical of your own entries anticipating numerous variables which may not bode well with voters. It sorta like wondering how many people will get offended if you say Merry Christmas. The funniest thing I heard recently is that some voters are enlarging the photos looking for technical flaws. Its a 200kb image for goodness sake. ;-)

Maybe its a good thing though? It makes you that much more aware of technical aspects you otherwise would have overlooked. Yeah, its good I guess.

Just got my first comment...thank you. Good to know why I'm scoring so low 4.5556

I've had this entry enlarged to poster size and framed and it looks fantastic. The resizing I did to put it on here has made it lose sharpness and the tones look washed out. Lesson learned!!

i am just scared to say what mine is. it seems too good to be true. :-\

i'm almost too scared to say this will be my PB...but it will be.

Do NOT post the score! You don't want to jinx yourself

Mines dropped into the high fives, but that's good for a FS.

There are some shots that just don't scale down well. Or, there could be some techniques you don't yet know that can help. Might be a good thing to ask for advice in the forums after the challenge is over.

Yes... I did consider that part of the image and kind of wondered if someone would misunderstand the issue. Then I said surly shurly shourly shorely shouly surely no one would think that without/after checking it... Oh well. You're right... Keeps me on my toes.

PS: (Maybe surly was right in the first place)

I've learned the hard way also that images look slightly different on CRT's and LCD monitors. Some images that I process on my desktop using a calibrated CRT look really bad when I view them on my wife's laptop or my work computer (both LCD's). (And occasionally the problem is all due to my crappy or over-zealous processing :O )

Once a voter noted a flaw in my photo that I couldn't see, but actually was a problem with that voters monitor. In that case, the voter was kind enough to PM me (after the voting ended) when they realized the problem was on their end :) I thought that was cool.

my recent 'flowers' challenge photo had a comment about it being dark and it really didn't seem that dark to me, but then when i looked at it from work, my jaw dropped. it was way darker than on my home computer. i really don't know what i could do about that, though.

Would sure be nice to get an explanation for a 3 when most others are giving it 5's to 7's. Of course those folks rarely leave comments.

I've noticed that a lot of challenge entries have cat hair on them. It's very odd. But since so many of them do, I generally don't vote them down.

:-)

Oh, and my score is dropping nicely. Still above 5, I think (I don't have scores on) but probably not by much. Which is fine. No comments, though, which is a bit depressing.
