Just wondered if anyone is using Fios for their internet provider, television/hd provider?

They are almost finished tearing up the neighborhood with the fiber optic install, and I am considering a switch from Comcast. I mainly wonder about the reliability of the internet connection, and if upload speeds are noticeably better. Also, if the HD channel quality is good (Comcast compresses HD channels to squeeze more in, and the artifacts are easily noticed). Comcast seems to throttle internet downloads quite harshly--just doing software update downloads seems to trip it out regularly, and it goes down randomly about 3-6 times a day besides that......

I have had better TV images and faster service so far - swapped from comcast @7mths ago now... They lie about the actual speeds from advertised... I get @9-13 down and 4 up fairly consistently [obviously depends on the test server and variability] but I pay for 5/20. Comcast was far slower and FAR more inconsistency in the evenings (shared local bandwidth) for me and we got more blockies on the TV signals. The TV is far from real HD but it's not bad mostly @720.

I am pretty happy with the switch overall.... still cannot remember the channel nbrs now - how about a std on those hey... that is the hardest thing to deal with :-/

I was thinking about switching from Time Warner cable to FIOS for everything (internet, phone, and TV). Are you saying FIOS doesn't broadcast in 1080p?

comcast in my area sucked.
I have been only hear great things of Fios.
You get the best of both worlds...
The unshared network, dedicated bandwidth of DSL
And the low lantancy of cable.
But better in every way.

Take a look at //www.dslreports.com/ They have reviews and speed test reports for most areas and for most types of service.
