I was approached by the TOP female wedding/fashion photographer in my city. She's backed up right now and wants to pass overflow work to me. I know for weddings her rates start at $2,000 for 5 hours of coverage. Not sure what her album prices are. She usually uses www.imagecapsule.com for album printing. I've used KISS wedding albums in the past. She asked what my "rate" was and I'm not sure what to tell her. I great album would probably take 10-20 hours of labor time for me to do. I was thinking a flat rate of $500 per album for the design work. What do you guys think?

| Shit...I would charge $500, and then ship it off to zoho design or something, have them design it for $200, and then bam. $300 profit haha. |

| The photographer just wants me to do the design work and I need to come up with a pricing structure. |

What format does her printer want for the files, what software do you have, and are you creating designs from scratch or following a standard set of designs she uses? Is she giving you edited photos to lay out, or having you edit as well? How many photos?
Your current suggestion would pay you $25-50/hour, at best -- that seems a little low for pro design/layout work, especially if it takes the longer time. |
