So having found enough interested people I'm officially announcing the (hopefully) First Annual Washington DC Summer Nights Tour. This even will be on June 12 starting at 11:30 PM. We will be taking pictures of various monuments on the National Mall. For our next step, I'd like folks to put down what they would like to have the oppertunity to shoot. Please keep in mind we will be doing this at an obscenely late hour. You will be tired. :) I need to know what folks want to see so we can have a game plan for how to get folks shuttled around safely.

So, right now the sky is the limit! I'll post the final itinerary the week of the shoot along with directions/parking suggestions.

For those just catching the thread, you are welcome to join in. Just add to the list! :)

Thanks for the help guys!

Good idea there blemt, I would love to join, but I am stuck way over in the jolly land of potatos. Cool idea though. Hope you get good participation.

I'd like to get the reflecting pool/Washington monument. I was there a couple months ago and the pool was drained. Hmm...not sure what else, I just hit the tourist mainstays, so I really don't know what all is there.

The Brood X Cicadas should be done by then.

Will be there for Rolling Thunder over Memorial Weekend. Good luck all.

I will be there and I don't really care where we go. I am just excited to learn from everyone.

Bump.

Driving to the mall in DC is about 2 hrs for me so I would have to stay out pretty late. My best offer is to wait and see how I feel about it when it gets closer. No cicadas here in Richmond yet, but I haven't exactly gone out of my way looking for them either, lol.

I am still in. I am really glad you decided the 12th, that helps me out a lot. As far as suggestions, I'm just glad to be there, and I'm sure the natives know much better what is good to see there at night than I do. I will default to your judgement. Thanks again for doing this. You have no idea how excited you have made me.

So it's looking like we are mostly interested in the Monument Triangle area then?

Ah, but if I make suggestions this soon I might unduly influance everyone. ;)

But I'd love to take a peek at the WW2 Memorial at night. So I want to add that in to the mix.

I second that Clara. I'm really looking forward to this event; the last few times I have been to DC I have just cast glances at the monuments. Living so close, I (sadly) tend to take them for granted.

Playing tourist is good! Everyone should play tourist in there hometown at least once a month. It's a great way to see interesting things.

Then there's me playing tourist once a week.

For anyone interested, I saw an ad on TV last night for a show on The History Channel about the WW2 Memorial. I believe it comes on Sunday night at 8pm ET. You may want to double check tho if you are interested in watching it...

Little bump here, since we are just over two weeks to the event!

I just can't wait.

It is getting very close to time!!! How do we get ahold of one another? Where do we meet? I'm so excited. I just got a new camera! A sony 828, what better way to really get aquainted with it than at the capitol. I know it isn't quite as nice as some of the cameras you people have, but I'll try not to get lens envy. Let's have some fun on the 12th!!!
