While thinking about the current challenge for Flowers, I have been looking at all of the many flower photographs here on DPC and they are all really amazing and inspiring. But while looking, there are some that really stood out to me. These are the type of photos I would love to see more of in this current challenge and in the future.

So here are some of the flower photos that really stood out to me:

by pixelpig Makes me think of something from Christopher Beane's Orgy Series

And here are a few Flower/Flora Portfolio Collections that stood out to me:
ursula's "florals" collection
sher's "Flora" collection
pixelpig's "Botanicals 2009" collection
jutilda's "Flora and Fauna" collection

These are just a few I picked out this morning -
I thought I would share some inspiration. What are your favorite flower photos?

Can't tell you how much I dislike flower photos usually... but here are a handful of the VERY few exceptions.

It is interesting to see how the photos you chose are all sepia. I noticed after I made my list that most of the ones I chose were B/W. And others chose very colorful ones.

That's interesting. Also, Karen's are more warm and cheerful colors, and mine and Jutildas are cooler tones.

A psychoanalyst would have a field day with this stuff.

The description specifically says try something different in the challenge directive, but trust me, different won't do well. LOL I have two possibilities. I can't decide.

I agree, try something different, but if you want a decent score stick to the tried and tested formula lol

Tried something different, hope the majority likes

Good for you. I chose to use my different one too. I don't care, cause it's my favorite. :~) GOOD LUCK.

A few of my favorites. I'm so pleased to be mentioned in the OP, thank you so much moriadelacroix I feel like I'm famous now!

I am another one who is submitting something I consider unusual which I expect to finish on the last page. I had a very interesting time doing it for I do not often preconceive a shot. This time my 4 remaining brain cells had an actual idea. "D

You're Botanicals Collections are amazing! Thank you for mentioning one of my photos!

I am glad to hear that others are trying something different! I was thinking I was going to try something different. But I am sure it will end up on the last page.

I had a quick question - is adding vertical or horizontal grain legal?

I don't know what vertical or horizontal grain is. I've used grain in some of my contenders, most didn't like it. If you read the rules, it seems filters & blending modes are OK. That's how I interpret the rules, anyway.

Hey thanks -- that's one of my own favotites too. Guess what's likely to show up in the outtakes thread after the voting ends? ;-)

I don't have to guess! It will be the entry that would've ribboned (or at least made the 1st page), if only you'd entered it. "D
