I swear you aussies stick out like a black bear in a middle of a white snow field.

I was out in the lobby and I saw this straw hat dude with some below the knees short with a short collar shirt that was had this wierd colorful pattern. I tought to myself that guy is australian...and I hung around enough to hear him speak. And yep the Aussie accent came out. LoL
I swear I can spot you folks from miles. :P

Where as we Americans blend into the local environment seamlessly no matter which Hilton we find ourselves in around the world.

The thing the Aussies and American have in common is the ready smile for one and all, which most of the world sees as the vacuous grin of the global village idiot. Want to blend in in France? Shrug your shoulders inward, purse your lips and scowl at the same time. If some one asks a question push out your lower lip and shrug your shoulders. Voila mon ami!

I met a fellow in Zimbabwe who applied for his Australian visa. There were a list of questions whereby if you answered "yes" to any of them it would set off all the bureaucratic whistles. He got to the one that asked if he had ever been convicted of a crime. In that space he wrote " I didn't know it was still a requirement" and sent it in. He got his visa.

I always laugh at those questions coming into the US..... Did you participate in genocide... um... er... hold on.... I know this one... honey what did I do last summer again... er.. oh that right.... Nope. At which point I think... now if I did, what option would I be likely to pick... Oh I know.... One of these days when I have some time & feel like a strip search & a return trip home with a cool deported stamp in the passport... I might check Yes and see if they notice :-)

P.S. - Yeah I know why it's there... Just a dumb question for a dumb reason.

I've been told that the best New York Style pizza isn't in New York. *shrug* I like Pizza Hut Pizza myself. I've never met an Aussie, I used to work with a Kiwi, and he was cool, but Vegemite sucks!!!!
