Hey Gennaro, anytime that you need help with something like this or anything else just PM me. I'll be glad to help out my old DPL team captain.

I saw something yesterday that I'm certain has never been seen on DPC...

I was standing in line at a convenience store behind a middleaged oriental man with short, neat hair. Short and neat except for the eight hairs growing out of the giant mole on the side of his neck just below his ear. These hairs were about six inches long and wavy so that it looked like a five inch ear ring. Seven of the hairs were gray and one of them was black.

That was sooooo weird looking because he obviously cares about his grooming and takes care of these hairs like he takes care of the hair on his head. I didn't have a camera with me but I could have used my cell phone camera. I just don't know how he would have taken my request to take a picture of his "lock" of hair.

YES!! I agree

The long hair out of a mole is a tradition. It is meant to bring luck and good fortune. The longer it is the more luck you have. Now you seriously do not want to know why the men have a long fingernail on their pinkie finger.

Well - I've submitted. Is it truly original? Probably not. Would I ordinarily brave such a photo on DPC? Absolutely not.

That's the criterion I've set myself for this challenge.

(Just did an image search and I can find one challenge entry which could be argued as quite similar. I find I am in good company!)

So, has anybody ever seen a picture of a drunk bee? I know how to make them drunk. I don't know if it would fly though. Bees are not new, but a drunk bee is quite interesting. I also know how to make a hummingbird drunk. It is quite a talent.

Phooey!

I got an idea for "Never Seen on DPC", and worked on it for quite a while yesterday. I entered it, and then to be on the save side, I reread the Advanced Editing rules. There was a reason it was never seen on DPC -- it was against the rules. So I withdrew the entry, and I'm now back at square one, trying to get an idea.

I see you have been out on the backroads nearby. I take the back road from Royse City sometimes going through Poetry and see this on the side of the highway everytime. Just never thought of stopping to take a photo of it.

I was going to do a photo of two blind dental hygienists trying to make a circle on an etch-a-sketch... but I couldn't find an etch-a-sketch :)

Kind of a shame that I have given up skydiving... shots like this are fairly rare on here...

Been there, done that.

Honestly, I think the winner of this one will be a pretty sunset or some studio shot of a cute girl. I think everything photogenic has been done before and it will be hard to find something really unique. Even if you do, I think most voters will just vote similar to a Free Study and ignore the intent of the challenge ("Hey, this is the first sunset from "this" beach on DPC, I'll give it a 10"). I am staying away from this one, it smells like a DNMC-fest.

I agree.

Likewise, I agree. However I've entered with a shot of something I'd certainly never seen before until we came across it at the weekend.... Kinda weird and definately not teh kind of shot that would normally feature, feel either a great score or really really low, certainly not an average........

Me too! It's actually not far from where I live...

RKT is right, of course. The less familiar the photo is to you, the higher you score it. If it's a picture of a car (I hate car pictures), but not like any picture of a car I've ever seen before, then it gets a high vote.

Think of it this way. You don't have to make *everything* different. As long as you make *anything* different.

I look forward to this challenge.

And I look forward to clobbering familiar images even more than usual. :D MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, call me crazy but I entered. I searched the site and I could not find a photo like it. Granted, some of the elements of the photo have been seen before, the technique is not new, but I think the photo is pretty neat.

Same with mine. Hope it goes over well.

Aaaargh! I've gone back and forth between two images all day long. Submit, unsibmit, swap out...stare at it, ponder, self doubt, unsubmit - a viscious cycle. Lol
06/25/2009 04:55:20 PM · #96
Well, I've shot my image but now thinking it will bomb in this challenge and will score better in either the grain or contrast challenges.
06/25/2009 05:45:17 PM · #97
I'm in! I also had trouble choosing between two very different entries, then realized at the last minute that one of them was ineligible because it was taken the day before the challenge was announced! Whew.
