Coming in early June - got an email from Canon today.
"By popular demand - manual exposure control for EOS HD Video"

"After months of extensive engineering and testing, Canon is pleased to announce a free downloadable firmware upgrade that allows manual exposure control while shooting video including: ISO, aperture, and shutter speed."

Story on canonrumors and DPReview.

Firmware will be available for download here STARTING June 2, 2009. Presumably will be version 1.0.8.

ETA: Very cool. It has been very tricky to shoot sharp video with fast lenses when the camera always chooses the widest aperture. They're definitely playing up "listening to customer feedback", and rightly so.
