First off I'd like to apologize for not being very computer savvy while trying to describe my problem but I'll give it shot.

Anyway, when I push the left click button on my mouse just once it acts like I'm double clicking. This doesn't happen all the time but enough to be very annoying. Also, I haven't been able to left click and drag to highlight text & delete either. It almost acts like it has a mind of it's own . Needless to say, this has made editing in Photoshop and Lightroom very frustrating. I haven't changed any settings on my mouse either so I'm not sure what is causing it to act up. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Alecia

Assuming you are using Windows XP, go into your control panel and find the mouse properties. There should be a setting in there to tell it how to treat a single click.

Does this happen everywhere in your system, or only within your browser?

It is also possible you have a faulty mouse. Replacement mice are cheap enough to just try it and see.

you don't say, but if you have an old-fashioned mouse w/a trackball, then it's probably got a problem with plaque, or DIRT. That's what it sounds like to me. Clean the rollers that touch the trackball with something gentle like the graphite end of a #2 pencil.

Maybe cheap, but for the environment's sake perhaps test a borrowed one first.

Is it a cordless mouse? I know mine does something similar when the batteries get low and I move it too far away from the receiver thingy...
