Deb, what a fantastic thing this would be. I too needed to set a date, needed to be able to say goodbye properly. Make sure its not too far out there. Mine was 5 days out. We will be cheering you on like you would not believe.

Today I had a tooth pulled. It had been giving me a lot of pain for a long time and just needed to come out. On the instructions that the dentist gave me about follow up care was... No smoking for 48 hours. My first thought when I read that was "But I'm not a smoker". First time I really put that into words, although I have not felt like a smoker for over a month now. Yay!

Ameed, twin boys! What a beautiful blessing that will be. I am thrilled for you and your whole family.

Trish I think the saying is "This thread is useless without pics!" LOL sorry couldn't resist ;)

Glad you are all feeling great! Doesn't it just show how brilliantely the internet can used, a true 24/7 support group would be hard to find anywhere else wouldn't it?

Deb's go for it, what have you got to lose? Then compare it to what you have to gain...

Ameed man way to go! Twins, Can't wait to see a pic of them on that sofa alongside your gorgeous daughter! Infact a family portrait will be in order :)

Congratulations to everyone. We are now home and if only for a little while I have some time for me before we're back filming so I sat in my office with the door closed and caught up on the goings on in our thread.

cynthiann Day four now and your in there like a dirty shirt, good on you for continuing on the right path:)

jettyimages I'm glad to hear that your on day 4 and the cravings are all but gone, it's fantastic that you have more energy and your getting out more, not to mention that your getting hit on you foxy lady you :)

Mark-A How's your weight loss coming? I hope your doing well with your goal.

printer4u It's nice to see your hitting your stride and your the better for it, and it's nice to pick up a model shoot when your just relaxing :)

AmeedEl-Ghoul Two children on the way, your quiting smoking, your loosing weight, and your hosting this thread. I think you need to do a few more things you have to much free time. Might I suggest you try juggling fire, knives, running chainsaws, or all three at once. You could always wrestle alligators or crocodiles. You might even try your hand at hunting for buried treasure, that's always fun and if you find something it's very rewarding. Just a few thoughts, let me know if you need more.

Melethia Deb, like everyone else here, I'm behind you 100% you pick the day and we'll handle the support. We know you can do it and we're only too happy to cheer you on so let us know. GO DEB GO, YOU CAN DO IT THIS WE KNOW!!!!!!!

BAMartin Barbara, you are doing GREAT and to keep away from smoking in you time of stress is good on you. Way to go.

Now a little up date and I'll have to be brief because Isaac and I are going to play ball hockey. I've lost 12lbs so far. There short and sweet.

MAX!

Bugger. Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger. Day 5 and I feel like crap, I've had a strong craving since i woke, and that lovely high feeling has completely vanished. I'm just grumpy.
NOT FAIR.
Did anyone else who gave up a while ago get this? I want that high back, the naked through the streets thing was really fun. :-(

ETA: 4 hours later, took the dog for a long walk, no cravings now but I'm SOOOO tired. A bit depressed too. Hoping my next post will be more positive.

ETA: another 4 hours later. The dog has a paralysis tick. I'm really down. This sucks. Sorry not to be any more inspirational than that, but I guess pretending its all fun would be misleading. Its real gun in the head territory.

Trish :( Sorry to hear you are suffering today, it could just be a bad day in general, be strong and you know it will pass,I have got to get the kids to school now but will message you when I get back

Max:
I'm doing pretty well (haven't weighed myself yet though) I feel a bit trimmer round the waist and my energy levels seem pretty good, I haven't managed to get on the bike since early in the week because of fear of putting my back out but I have done some walking and some floor exercises, will update with weight on Sunday.

Trish, I hope you're feeling better :( Hang in there! Pleeeeeeease... You'll be running naked through the streets again in no time. Go get some bubbles... seriously. They force you to take deep breaths, give you something to do with your hands, and puppies love them. They not only take the edge off, but they cheer me up.

GO, DEB! GO, DEB! Pick a date and join us. It's really tough for a short period of time, then periodically, but soooooo worth it. I haven't even nearly reaped the full benefits yet and probably have a few rough spots to get through, like Trish, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ameed, you ARE a stud aren't you!! Congrats on the twin boys!!!

My husband is coming home tonight. He hasn't seen me since the morning I quit. I'm exited and nervous at the same time. He's a bit of a stressy person, always wondering what going to go wrong next kind of guy. Lots of worries. Plus, his teenage daughter is coming for the week. Love her to death, but... well, she a teenage step-daughter... need I say more. So I'm going from being completely alone for four days, to this.

Wish me luck.

Max, how did you know about that :) well I am very close to juggling fire and knives .. this close, this was taken couple of weeks ago for my daughter and I, this is Sarah, the reason I quit smoking :) very soon we'll be trying juggling knives :)

cynthiann I am excited for you, are you going to tell him? or you'll let him find out by himself? Whatever you decided, good luck with that, and let us know :)

Mark-A Easy with the back :) doing a group update by Sunday sounds good to me :)

jettyimages Yoooo Trish :) hang in there princess :) it is the kick we get for the lack of nicotine, it is exactly like a bad hangover we get after a funny night. Give it couple of days and it will be a history, and will eventually level out. You are almost there, not saying this to motivate you, it is the truth, couple of days you will be over the first week, the second one will be much much better, the third one you'll be almost over it. Hang in there .. btw .. usually there are no before and after pictures for quitting smoking, but your case .. there might be during pictures .. the running naked pictures :)

Rest of the gang, thank you so much for your kind wishes, really appreciate it and makes me even happier :) All the best,

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is great and that your able to get through it smoke free. Everyone is doing so well and I'm sure will continue to do so. I've lost another 2 1/2lbs so that's 14 1/2lbs so far. Way cool :) It really helps to have you guys to report to and get support from. Thank you everyone. Our youngest son had to present at an industry awards gala on Wednesday night and I was able to ware my suit that hasn't fit me in years. For the first time (in recent memory) I'm actually loosing the weight off my stomach, which because of my kidney disease is the hardest thing to do and where most of my weight sits. The danger zone for heart attack and with the recent lose of my friends is forefront in my mind. I don't know what I'm doing different from other times that I've tried to loose weight but I'm not complaining :)

Keep up the great work one and all, I pulling for you :)

Hi everyone
Well its been a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the last couple of days, day 5 was disgusting, day 6 I nearly ruined the whole thing by having a couple of puffs of a cigarette at the pub - and woke absolutely ashamed of myself and terrified that all the pain I'd been through over the past week was for nothing - but then day 7, yesterday, I woke thinking "no, it was just a slip, no more than inhaling smoke from the fireplace, and I am still determined to stop". It was quite amazing really, I only had one craving at night, didn't think about them at all during the day. Today I am not worried, going on a family picnic, have my patch on but wondering if I really need it, and will continue to behave like a healthy person ;-)
So no, I'm not perfect, I'm ashamed that I don't have a completely clean slate (damn, there goes that blue, lol) but I have also shown myself that I really am determined to stop, and that I can.
.....better stay away from the pub though, at least for another week, lol.....

Sorry Cindy for not responding to your PM as yet - it arrived at exactly the time that I would have been no inspiration to you whatsoever, and I didn't want my state of mind to rub off on you. I really hope you are still hanging in there - will PM you later too!

Good morning all!

One week, 9 hours, 42 minutes and 27 seconds!!!!!!

Still coughing like I smoke, though, whats up with that :P

Max, congrats on that 14.5 loss! Must feel great!

Ameed, congrats on you extra day (almost two) of life. That's gotta feel good!

and Trish, congrats on shaking off your couple of puffs. Though I have to admit I was a wee bit jealous.

Rick, 600 cigs not smoked!! awesome!!

Anywho, Smed came home this weekend. He already knew I had quit because I had to explain to him why I was so grouchy over the phone this past week. (actually grouchy is an understatement) Even had a few drinks with him which I was sure would bring up some urges but didn't, though every time I go outside to blow bubbles with the puppy he thinks he's done or said something wrong and that is very annoying. He's pretty psyched about me smelling so good. It makes the cuddling better. I guess my next hurdle is when he leaves again. This time he's going farther and staying away longer, and that's always pretty tough for me to deal with. But that's not until next weekend, so I'll just deal with it then and enjoy my time now.

Well even though we went for long walks as a family and were active in so many ways, I've hit the first of many plateaus. I didn't manage to lose any weight over the weekend so I'm sitting at 14 1/2lbs lost so far. Today is another day and I'm determined to achieve my goal :)

How's everyone else doing? For those of you who have reported, I'm glad your doing well and or were able to get yourself back in line. I pulling for all of you.

Keep up the good work.

jettyimages Thats the spirit :) Saturday I was at This with my friends, we were having a blast with This, One of my friends was smoking one of This, he was honestly trying to avoid buffing my direction, but it happened, and I inhaled it all by accident, and started to look like This, thought about having one cigar .. but I remembered I have This, and that my goal is to look like This, which brought me back to reality, and happy to say I didn't slip yet, so I am still for the Blue, btw, you deserve a blue for continuing the challenge.

Quigley My hat up Bro, 14.5 Pounds .. thats super wonderful, right now we have the same amount of pounds to lose, I thought to give you a good head start which you used perfectly :P very well done Max, you are the man .. I'll do my best to catchup :)

Melethia Congratulation for advance, awaiting your update.

cynthiann Things should start to level out from now on, it should be much easier, simply try to stay away from temptation and keep your time occupied and it will be just fine, you are doing great. Btw, you were in for the weight loss as well, any updates on that :P

printer4u Rick this is simply wonderful, the 600 number stroked me .. It is scary when we look at it from the outside .. don't you agree? very well done .. soon we all will be 1 month plus :)

BAMartin How does it feel after two months? :)

I've lost a little weight just from keeping busy all the time so as to not think about smoking, which I haven't thought much of these past couple of days. I won't know how much until I get a scale. My other one's battery died and it sucked anyway so we gave away. I can tell you that I bought a pair of size 12 jeans that fit comfortably and I was previously wearing size 16, plus when I pull on the belt that I wear with my other jeans, the slack is a good 4 inches longer. Low fat, low sugar, yoga, and just recently added cardio. When Smed leaves again, I'm going to check out the gym that I've belonged to for the past two years. It came with the job and is in walking distance. I hear it has a revolving rock climbing wall and virtual bike tours... stuff like that. Should be interesting.

They gave me homework. :-) I'll go back in a week with my homework completed, and will set a quit date at some point during that time. Hopefully they'll fully medicate me (and if possible stick me in a padded cell for a week, but I'm guessing that won't happen.)

Keep on keepin' on, folks - you're very inspirational!
