I've been wondering for some time, why don't we have a mass upload option here? When I want to upload several photos it's really boring to do it one by one? I guess it's not pretty complicated to add this function as an option? What do you all think?

Well you can upload a zip file.

On a PC, you can compress a number of photos into one file. You then only need to upload one file, the .zip file, and DPC will unzip the file for you.

I suggested the idea of batch naming a while back... didn't really take off though.

Wow, I didn't know that, I'll give it a try. I know the zipping part but didn't know that DPC can unzip. But anyway, you need winzip or winrar to do it...

I'd like the ability to add info to a batch of photos all at one time - date taken, for instance. And location if possible. Right now you have to do it one at a time.

Yup, that's what I'm talking about.

I have made the suggestion at least three times to have an input area that would display at the top of a portfolio page that could contain information that pertained to the whole portfolio. it has never gotten much attention. Perhaps I will dig out the screen shots and try again.

I don't think that's true any more -- making a "compressed folder" on a PC essectially gives you a ZIP file, and Macs now also have compression of files built into the OS.

If you read the text under the place where you select the file to upload, it says "Supported file types: JPG, PNG, and GIF, or a ZIP file containing any number of these."

Yeah, I do the zip thing, but when I upload a whole batch at one time, I'd still like to be able to enter the common info at that time - date taken, place, etc. - and strip the .jpg from the file names.

Yup! This is as far as my thread got too... I really do think it would be easier if we had some way of batch naming and tagging things.

I don't see a reason for a Web site suggestions section if none of the moderators answer.

I posted "something" two posts ago ...

As Langdon announced some time ago, he has been working on a "major" revision and is not so likely to incorporate incremental changes which involve significant coding, as I suspect this type of feature might require. AFAIK, he has a "day job" and is the only person with access to and knowledge of the site code. Site suggestions are read, noted, and sometimes implimented -- but usually not for a long time unless it's a really simple change.

Sorry, but I don't have access to the code, nor the knowledge to "fix" anything if I did, and none of the other SC members have access either.

I know exactly the type of feature you desire -- some stock sites let you keyword a batch of images on one page, but with the type of detailed info we want, such a page might be hard to construct.

I'm guessing the most practical approach is going to be to have DPC parse the IPTC data, so that what you put in the caption area is mapped to the "Additional info" field at DPC. You can then copy/paste or load that IPTC data (perhaps batching, or creating an action) into the group of pictures before you upload them. You may still have to check/title each picture, but you wouldn't have to type in any details.

Thanks General, I just didn't want the thread to sink too fast. Ok, let's wait for the big revision ;-)
