My wife and I are going to spend a week in Seattle next week and are really excited about it. We're staying at my sister in law's place which makes the trip way affordable for us.

I am curious to see what you guys would recommend to do and take photos of. Also, if you know of some places that are a must do (within reasonable price) or of some good restaurants, let me know. We will be going to the aquarium, ride the ferry, Pike's place market, and one of the zoos.

Thanks!

The Arboretum is a great place, and The Japanese Garden, at the edge of the Arboretum, is terrific (but no tripods allowed in the confines of the Japanese Garden).

I highly HIGHLY recommend travelling about 45 min north to Everett, to take the Boeing Factory Tour. It is a mind-boggling thing!

There are some boat tours out of the waterfront there. There is a dinner cruise, which is nice, but I really enjoyed the Locks Tour

Anthony's and The Crab Pot on the waterfront are good, as are lots of other places. The Space Needle is always fun, and the night-time dinner in its restaurant is fun, but a bit pricey. Top Pot Donuts and Cafe Lladro are a couple of must do things, too.

A Day Trip drive up into the Cascades is nice--your sister-in-law can guide you to the best route from where you are staying.

Oh, a Float Plane tour out of Lake Union is unique and fun, too.

Make that a tour on "the ducks". You'll find them near the Space Needle. They take you on a bus tour around Seattle, as well as on water. Fun tour complete with sound effects and singing.

Woodland Park Zoo is quite nice. The other option would be North West Trek - not quite as many different animals, but the bus tour Safari style through the open area is different.

If you have a rainy day (what are the chances? *s*), do the Underground Tour that starts at Pioneer Square - very interesting and different sort of thing to do.

One of THE famous photo spots for the city is Kerry Park, but you'll want a clear day for it.

Thanks to the internet, you'll be able to easily look up details for all of these.
Check out the city pass - depending on how many things you'll do, it may save you some money.

I'll cross fingers re weather for you.

Got to go to a baseball game. Mariners are hot this year.

If the weather is nice Alki might be a fun place to hang out for a day. It's a beach in West Seattle and you can get some great views of the city skyline.

Day trip to Mt St Helens (Johnson Ridge visitor center is spectacular if the weather's good and there's some nice hiking if you're inclined) or Mt Rainier (the road to Paradise visitor center is open).

Boeing factory tour is great, but no cameras allowed.

If you like airplanes and aviation, check out the Museum of Flight. Google it to get directions and hours.

Search DPC for "Seattle" and you'll see lots of interesting things to photograph.

PM me if you'd like to get together and shoot something, that is if you don't mind hanging around with an old fart :)

I am a Frank Ghery fan, and his EMP is one of his better buildings. Carve out about four hours to see the displays inside the highly photogenic wrapper. It is near the space needle and downtown. if you have a car taking the ferry over to Bainbridge Island is well worth the effort.

Just watch out for the giant clams.

Weather's always iffy but you're sure to get at least a day or two of sunshine I hope. Have fun!
