Experimenting with gradient filters here. Be honest, but gentle, please. Still smarting from a commenter on two pics currently in challenges. He has a lower average than I do, but can only rake me over the coals. Even if my pics have issues, I think they have some good points as well. Nice to hear a little of both. I want to learn but not feel totally incompetent. (sulking) I suspect the number one comment on this will be that it needs more contrast, since the filter softened the contrast.

Long week of travel, but I was able to get out on the lake this afternoon. No one on board to photograph, so I set the camera down and used the self timer. For me, there is something about being on the water, doing what I really enjoy, that makes everything else fade away.

I've been neglectful. Last time I did one of these in May I didn't have a 2000-square-foot garden underway, and that makes a difference in my participation level, I'm finding. Sigh. Here's a shot of one of the many things that've been keeping me so busy:

Well, I'm not sure whether or not I am improving, but I am definitely getting braver. Trying more new things, including making a gel by using colored water in a glass vase and shining my light through it to get a pink cast. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Playing outside with the lensbaby. I would like the second one a lot more without the hot spots.
