I found this the other day while walking through the woods looking for something to shoot. Just bought and received my digicam one week ago. It was located next to a fire hydrant. Missed the deadline for "rusted", but since I am a novice at this point in my quest as a great amateur photographer I relize that I have alot of work to do, thus not winning any awards yet. Any comments and suggestions are welcomed.

cool shot ... i probalby would have taken the stick away ... does disturb the reflection a little ... i like the light on the water thingy and the irony of it

There is A lot going on here...try cropping from the left until a bout a 1/2 inch from the other thing in the water. That spaced is pretty much unused and detracts from a great image...nice shot.

very nice!!! Try moving the stick and using a polarizing filter to take out the reflection just a little bit. I think it would make an excellent image

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them. It is reassuring that I might just have an eye for this media. As far as the stick goes.... I am actually over the water standing on an unstable small log that happen to be in the water so I could get closer (it was rolling on me when I didn't have my balance just right). I really had to stretch to get to the log. I was also leaning over a small branch to steady myself praying it was not going to break. I really didn't want to fall in that muck. I know it was a distraction, but I had no way of moving it without getting wet. And I know if I tried.....SPLASH! there goes me and my camera.

Camera goes up in the air. Trust me, they don't like water. That's how I lost my beloved AE-1 Programmable. However, knowing how much risk the image involved makes even more wonderful. Keep at this... and um, keep the camera dry.

Hahaha, I actually took a couple photos of one of these things for rusted. However, mine was surrounded by white rocks and other than the irony of the rusted water cover, there was nothing going for it.

Yours however has a lot more interest to it. I love it being underwater and the reflection of the trees from above. The stick really detract though. Sorry you missed the deadline and sorry you couldn't move the stick, but great job on the photo! ^_^

i think it's an awesome shot. i love the composition and i even like the stick...to my eyes it gives a really nice depth to the image. the only thing i might do is a slight burn on the white part of the wood. i would have voted this very high. well done!
