They're building a huge Best Buy a mile from my place, the first one in Victoria, second on the island. Of course, that means I'll be shopping there driving right past as I travel the extra miles to Future Shop.

Now that really sucks with a capital "S". Thanks for sharing, will cross them off of my shopping list. Shame I have one really close to me to. Hope it all works out for you. Maybe fax this to there office to let them know about the size of the community here, just mite get there attention.

Best Buy is a bunch of crooks. I refuse to buy from them and don't even bother checking their site when I'm researching prices, as I know they're either overpriced or scamming.

I've said it before - I'll be glad to see them follow Circuit City down the tubes. Yes, I know that can be seen as a harsh stance toward the employees, but IMO bad business should go out of business. If both BB and CC are gone, something will fill the void, and maybe the new store will actually get it right.

wow. But what I don't get is if they were willing to give him a gift card, why not just give him the hard drive? He could take the gift card and buy the hard drive over again so why not just skip that step for him?

One thing I will say about Fry's is that they have never given me a hard time about a return. Many of their staff are less than knowledgeable, while a few others are well informed. Otherwise, they are pretty good on the customer service side.

The gift card was for only half the purchase price.
