Not sure if this has been done before, but I got this idea off another forum, and thought it would be fun to start this up here. Depending on the interest, I will post more in the coming weeks, or even make this a weekly/biweekly/monthly side challenge. The challenge here will be to take different themes, and photograph them in a creative and artistic way.

The Details:

1) There will be 10 themes in the scavenger hunt
2) The pictures should be taken after the scavenger hunt is announced. The goal is to take more photos, not to look back in your archives. But then again, who is going to check :D
3) Post all 10 of your photos in the same post, and in the same order of the themes.
4) Each image can only be used for one of the themes.
5) If you want to challenge yourself even more, try taking all these shots in one place or outing.

Scavenger Hunt #1: Themes

1) Red
2) Now That's Funny!!!
3) Overexposed
4) Moody
5) Deserving of a Cheesy/Cliche Title
6) From the Ground Up
7) Circle(s)
8) Black and White
9) Abstract
10) Spring (or Fall for you Southern Hemisphere members)

This Scavenger Hunt will expire on Sunday April 12 :)

icu1965 - First to complete the scavenger hunt!!! :)

I don't know if I will have time this month...I am booked solidly. But the themes you have listed would make great challenge suggestions also.

You can come back to this 6 months from now and still shoot them :)

so, if I get this right you will take 10 pics, right? Do we need to take them in order?

Take them in whatever order you want, just post them in order of the themes so viewers know which photo goes with each theme.

Let me know if I got this right, we post one pick of each of the 10 themes? I think I might want to give this a shot.

Yeah, I'm in. This seems pretty rad. How much time are setting for this?

It's a fun idea, but I'm scrambling because I don't have an entry for rock titles or the open challenge! Argh!! but wait... the rock title shot that I took had red in it... nonono!! my brain is so confused! Am I supposed to take an overexposed fauna? or was it an abstract rock title? No!! it was a cheesy circle! I get it now!

(fun idea, though. I think the first one back with all ten should get a scavenger ribbon.)

I like it. I'm in.

(And I do remember seeing something similar to this on here, but it has been a while, and I don't remember what happened with it).

so when do we have to have these ten pics?

Lets say we have them in within the next 2 weeks. Of course, if anyone wants to continue posting after that, they can, but 2 weeks will give us some motivation, and hopefully enough time to finish them as well.

So... Scavenger Hunt #1 is due Sunday April 12 at whatever time.

wow that is a little short time. how about the whole month of April?
will we have one thread for each one on the list?

It was originally intended to have all the photos presented in one post, sequentially in the order of the themes.

Lets keep it at April 12 for now... if by that day we dont have a lot of stuff here, we can extend it. This first month will be a lot of trial and error, seeing what time frames work, themes, etc.

The local camera club has a scavenger hunt each fall. We have three hours for 20 categories, which have included "abandoned", "foreign", "opposites", "construction", "curves" ... The images can be taken in any order, but only one shot is allowed per item which is really what makes it a challenge (this is checked using the sequential numbers assigned to the images). It's great fun. How about setting a time limit and seeing how many items you can get on one outing. It's great to see what you come up with under pressure!
