Can you recommend any monitors as good as the dell 2007 S-PVA model? Maybe 22-23 inch. The only other Dell with S-PVA I see is the 24 for arount $650. I have the Dell 2007 20.

I could also do with a monitor, I'm using a laptop at the moment and the screen is terrible. Any recommendations out there?

I have a budget of around $500.

I've been using a Samsung Synchmaster T220 22". A brilliant screen. I'm not sure how much they cost in your respective areas, but here in Korea they're around $300. It has a 2ms refresh, and 20000:1 dynamic contrast. I use a Huey to calibrate it, and I love the results.

Know of anything equivalent to the s-pva type screen or better?

The best monitors are made my Samsung. 2nd on the list is Sony, I love my 19" Sony LCD, it's still bright and powerful after 4 years.

Me too ... Me too!
I'm looking for a 2nd monitor (to add to macbook pro). I'd really like an LED or LED-backlit model. Just another guy looking for info on what is the "best value".

I is really hard to determine which have the s-pva now, even from Dell. My guess is it would be difficult to find one fro under $300. With that said I've had good luck with all of the Dell monitors I've had (4 or 5). Now I'm using dual monitors, a older Dell 20" with the s-pva technology panel and a new 24" Viewsonic that I got a smokin deal on at Costco which I'm not usre has s-pva or not. Take a look at what Costco is offering both in store and online, sometimes they have great deals.

I have this 24", bought for £185, which is a steal for an m-pva panel:

off topic - but why exactly have you burned through so many monitors ?

i replaced a circa 1997 CRT that worked fine - high res and all - but i wore out the vid connection port from moving so many times. i replaced it not too long ago with LG 22" widescreen LCD. those are the only two monitors i've owned since 1997...

I recently bought a 22" Westinghouse monitor that was on clearance at Target. It was originally sold for $291 on the shelf. I really didn't need it but it was less then $200 out the door with tax. Might check on them there, they are changing over to selling AOC brand which is what I currently use in 22". I am probably going to end up selling this one I bought, and of course as soon as I do mine will go out.
