so i dont have any other lenses than the stock lens for my canon rebel xt and i need a 55mm-200mm telephoto lens. i had been looking for some online and i wasnt sure which one would be better? should i just pony up the money and buy that canon or will the sigma work just the same? i need it for the school i would like to go to, and for personal use. |

For that particular lens, go with whichever is cheaper. |

Hi Theultimatum13
When it comes to decide which lens to buy I typically first read the reviews of the lens, just to make sure that it will be as good as I expect.
I have found this website to be very useful: //www.photozone.de/canon-eos.
Take a look there, you will find thorough reviews for most Canon, Sigma and Tokina lenses.
Good luck.

I second the photozone site referral. I have found them to be close to accurate, better than Amazon backed DPReview at least. |

I have several sigma EX lenses and I love them. I also have a 24-105 F4L and I love that too.

You might check out the reviews at //www.fredmiranda.com/reviews. I've found the reviews to be accurate. |
